Mini-96 World Challenge

Sadly... my last run on the 96 track as it will be going to another home.
Spent a couple hours running the stock car (my other cars are too dialed in on the tracks I race at locally) and finished with my best run. I think I have one major park in the whole run - the rest of the laps were pretty clean. After seeing the last stock time I wanted to leave with a bang.

I thought I was putting down some good times until I came to update my times. I guess I’ll have to practice more.

Well I haven’t made any improvements worth posting. Do we have the standings in each class so far? This weekend is the last weekend of this layout. Hopefully everyone gets time to make one last run at it.

Good call MD.
Sorry for being quiet, the last two weeks are my busiest time of the year at work for me, the better half was away all week for work and the wee man and I were out and about every night......he is killing it on the mound this season which has been super fun to watch.
We are off to a bit of a slow start with 4 drivers participating this month so far. I was hoping that with the amount of interest on FB we would have had more participants. I am not sure if people are not interested in joining a forum or if running on the rough side is keeping people away. I plan on posting something in the FB threads to see what changes we can make to get a few more people involved, I had originally counted around 15 participants given their responses on the FB threads so we have some work to do. Whenever you guys get the chance spread the word and slowly we will gain participants.
With that said I really enjoyed the first 6 weeks. Having markers has helped me immensely in knowing if I am quick or not and because of that all of my cars have become faster in the process and looking at the times that have been submitted I think that hold true for all of us. Something that stands out when looking at all these numbers is that consistency is king.
A little bit of bookkeeping to make my life easier, I will add this to the opening post but If I can ask you all in the future to put a red indicator on your fastest time of the month it would make my life much easier.
This is what I am thinking for the indicator:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
With that out of the way lets see where we all stand in regards to our times.
Box Stock- We have had two drivers in box stock. I did not get a chance to run box stock this month but I should have a car next month. Also keep in mind that you are allowed to run a 7T pinion in Box Stock
2nd- Pooch-472.7 race time/ 5.35 fast lap
1st - Mattdaddy-452.9 race time/ 4.9 fast lap/ 6.04 average lap
Stock- We have had four drivers in stock this month and times were getting quicker every week.
4th-Mattdaddy- 452.9 race time/ 4.9 fast lap/6.04 average lap
3rd-Pooch- 446.56 race time/5.33 fast lap
2nd-LJH- 399.7 race time/ 5.00 fast lap/ 5.33 average lap
1st-Duckman- 365.2 race time/ 4.33 fast lap/ 4.87 average lap
Pro-Stock- We have had two drivers in Pro-Stock.
2nd- Mattdaddy- 443.6 race time/ 4.75 fast lap/ 5.91 average lap
1st- LJH- 391.1 race time/ 4.83 fast lap/5.21 average lap
Open AWD- We have had two drivers so far in Open AWD.
2nd- Mattdaddy- 411.1 race time/ 4.42 fast lap/ 5.48 average lap
1st-LJH- 376.8 race time/ 4.71 fast lap/ 5.02 average lap.
That is where we stand with one week left in the first installment of the M96WC.
Cheers,
Jim

I’m guessing that I’m the only one in Open 2wd. I have some runs with Open Awd , Open 2WD & Box Stock I ran last night.
Open AWD

Open 2WD

Box Stock

I’ll get some more in this weekend. Also I have some runs with a faster lap time but slower overall average. Should I just post the best overall average or fastest lap. Or both. I will get my new body for my Stock car put together and I’ll have 4 cars in 4 different classes. I hope we get some more participants as well. Maybe when we swap the layout more will join in. I’m only 2 tenths of a second behind in the Open AWD.

Hello All,
Sorry about the silence. Along with work being full on right now I also just participated in my first sailboat race since my accident this past weekend. I have raced sailboat all over the world at a fairly high level for the last 35 year so this weekend was huge for me.......I am happy to report that I can still get a boat around a race course even after not sailing at all last year and minimal sailing the year before because of a unrelated injury. 4th out of 22 boat and right in there with a few Olympiads and a world champion......So much fun.
OK.....Back to Mini-Z's.
Here are the final times for our first installment of the Mini96 World Challenge:
Box Stock- We have had two drivers in box stock. I did not get a chance to run box stock this month but I should have a car next month. Also keep in mind that you are allowed to run a 7T pinion in Box Stock
2nd- Pooch-472.7 race time/ 5.35 fast lap

Stock- We have had four drivers in stock this month and times were getting quicker every week.
4th-Mattdaddy- 452.9 race time/ 4.9 fast lap/6.04 average lap
3rd-Pooch- 446.56 race time/5.33 fast lap

1st- LJH- 391.1 race time/ 4.83 fast lap/5.21 average lap
Open RWD- Mattdaddy was the only driver to post in Open AWD.
Mattdaddy- 386.7 race time/ 4.44 fast lap/ 5.14 average lap
Open AWD- We have had two drivers so far in Open AWD.
2nd- Mattdaddy- 377 race time/ 4.60 fast lap/ 5.03 average lap
1st-LJH- 376.8 race time/ 4.71 fast lap/ 5.02 average lap.
All in all I think it was an OK first go around but with that I would really love to add some drivers. I am going to address this on Facebook shortly.....it seemed that we had a lot of people say they were going to participate and never did. I am wondering if that is because we are using a forum page as a home? IT seems that a lot of the Facebook Mini-Z players to not frequent the forums. I know I personally prefer forums for the ability to document information whereas on FB you post the info and then it is lost into the depths of the web. If any of you guys have any ideas on increasing participation please speak up.
June's circuit will be Plan A, rough side up and run in a counter clockwise direction.
The only other thing I have to add is that it looks like I will be adding a Box Stock car this month.
Go get'em boys......may the fastest man/woman win.
Cheers,
Jim

Good to have you with us. I do not run at a club track (yet) but I do a lot of running here at home and I have to say that having some markers to run against has made me much faster even in this first installment.
What are you running for an open car? It would be nice to have some diversity.
Cheers,
Jim

Brand new Mini-96 i got on Saturday and first time participating, but I have been running Mini-Zs for years. Unfortunately I set up RCP with smooth side up, so these results won't be comparable. I'll wait for July layout to switch it to the correct surface, because its too much work for my old bones.
