Dumb question because I don't understand what makes an ESC "4-pole motor capable or not", but can you drive a 4-pole motor with something like a Hobbywing Xerun V3.1? I ask because it sounds like we will still have the same electronics space as the EB410, but I'd like to run a 540 sized 4-pole, probably my SMC 4500kV.

That' a beast of a motor, not sure that I would race with that. You could probably tune it down with esc settings but I would recommend running a different motor. That esc can probably handle it with a fan, but I can' say for sure.

What about the tekin pro 2 motors, i know a few team drivers use the 5100 version in the sct410. Those should be a good answer to this vehicle.

OK, thanks Matt. It didn't seem too overpowered in my Hyper TT, but I will try a different motor with the ET410.

I hear ya. My hopes are for another company to join in on the action also. And by another company, I mean your typical racer's brand to push the envelope. It's always good to have competition. Right? Can't let Tekno have all the fun .

I think when it drops there will be a few other that jump in too.. Team AE and Losi I would bet will at some point.

for sure the 3.1 can handle that motor. i used to run a V3 in my SCT410 with a 4000kv hobbywing 4 pole and depending on the track, i'd dial in some boost/turbo. if you already have it (the SMC 4 pole), i'd give it a go before dropping more coin on a new motor. while i think the pro-2 tekin is probably the ideal motor, like matthew said, you should be able to tame the SMC with esc/radio settings.

the other issue with the 4 pole motors is finding 5mm 48p pinions. it's been a while, but i don't think they're all that common (could be wrong). the tekin pro2 is 1/8" shaft, but that SMC and most other SCT 4 pole motors are 5mm shafts.

oh snap!!!!! mod 1 FTW!!!!! or perhaps the seldom used 32p?

on that note though, how hard/easy is it to find 1/8" mod 1 pinions? from when i first got into the hobby in 2010, i think ofna was the only ones making 1/8" mod 1 pinions. i never had luck with the stupid adapters. because of this, i'm assuming the ET will be 32p.

If they did mod1, seeing how good there pinions have been, wouldn't mind a tekno adapter.
