Traxxas also claimed that the vaterra v100 copied off of the traxxas 4-tec in the driveline I think it was the transmission?
I didn’t know about the crawler issue
Who’s next for traxxas to sue or threaten is the question to really ask now

You and reading apparently don't work so lets dumb this down a little more.... What exactly did traxxas invent? Spend some time doing research their is a thread on reddit that shows that Traxxas was NOT the first RC company to use lay down shocks or pillow balls. Tamiya did the lay down shocks Lay down Dampers also before but yet we don't see Traxxas going after them do we?
For your next question name me 1 product of Traxxas that doesn't require hop ups to make it bullet proof? Name me 1???????
All their pride products the T-Maxx plague with crappy arms and suspension that is why every T-Maxx that exist to this day is running RPM arms and different shocks
E-Revo plagued with differential issues when ran on 6s, the plastic tastic drive line breaks to the point that Traxxas put out their own metal drive line to fix the problem that they put in the truck
X-Maxx ESC fires and bad diffs
Do I really need to keep going on??? Like I said you won't see anything past the point that Traxxas is super cool look at your username.... LoL
Like I said before the point of a patent is protecting something you designed but in the US it has become who finds an idea and rushs to the patent office first. Traxxas invented NOTHING other than the stupid Lipo ID plug which is stupid and pointless and forces a person to use different plugs or use their own crappy chargers which I am sure you will come back to tell me how great both are and I already have a nice link to a guy that did a tear down of their latest charger and gave a review of it based on him being an Electrical engineer. Lets just say his review finished with advising people to stay away from the charger and buy a quality one.
You literally can't keep your arguments straight... do yourself a favor go to Traxxas's forum and stay their you start this previously qouted argument with
Than you say
SO first you stated the patent doesn't say that traxxas invented the shocks than you say it is their to protect the company's invention...... THEY DIDN'T INVENT ANYTHING!!! So what exactly is the patent their for again?
Listen do yourself a favor go and put on your favorite Traxxas shirt and ignore the rest of us and just enjoy them but you aren't doing yourself any favors trying to argue and further prove my point. You skip answering any big questions that might show Traxxas doesn't make quality... Do they make some cool RCs YES but far from quality, go and buy yourself a Losi 8ight-T and compare it an E-Revo even bashing the 8ight-T is quite a bit stronger and doesn't require drive line fixes or replacement diffs to handle its own power.

like all other little traxxas lovers when confronted with the garbage/bad business they do, they go quiet and struggle to defend. You skip answering any real questions and than reply with a stupid response like you did. You further prove my own point traxxas is garbage and the lovers of their junk follow blindly and ignoring all issues while bad mouthing other brands that do stand behind their product and give them warranties to prove such.

Hey jato so by calling out someone’s inability to comprehend your typing skills makes them
A child? What does that say about yourself?
If you admit you don’t claim to understand about patents and the structure behind it then
Just stfu about it
This whole post was supposed be about if we think the op is crazy In wanting the Revo
I have only seen maybe 3 posted replies pertaining to that!
I think we are all crazy (including myself) to argue over a toy manufacturer lol seriously we all need to get a life if all we do is hammer keys just to feel we succeeded in some way that our words matter but to get all pissy bent call names and think your internet courage supersedes child like behavior then I guess it’s fair to say traxxas is king and all the rest can suck it!?!! Lol!

I have not read this entire thread but see it has unfortunately devolved as so many threads tend to do. Back to the point, even having had literally dozens and dozens of MT's over the years as personal and shop vehicles and knowing full-well the downsides to many Traxxas vehicles, this truck is still intriguing. I guess the Revo has a special place in my heart as it was my first truck when getting back into RC after a 5 year hiatus around 2000. I've had tougher trucks, faster trucks and everything in between but this truck still has a lot of appeal to it. That aside, for all the trash that is talked about Traxxas I think a good portion of that is the same trash that is talked about anyone or anything that makes it to the top, there are always haters that hate just for that reason.... Traxxas does not make race vehicles, nor do they market themselves a as a race-rig company. For all their faults, Traxxas is to thank in big part for there even being a basher scene as big as there is today, and for the abundance of other trucks on the market. Traxxas literally brought about the modern monster truck with the T-Maxx. Sure, it's a dated and poor design by today's standards, but look at the timeline of our hobby and what happened once the T-Maxx came out. Short course trucks? Traxxas invented those and is to thank for thousands of people getting into the hobby and even racing with the Slash. Of course it's not the best race truck by a long shot, but if it gets somebody into racing whereas they would not have otherwise then it's a win in my book. I am willing to bet that the Unlimited Desert Racer is going to spawn a whole new side of the hobby. While guys have been building one-off absolutely amazing desert trucks, the majority of guys do not have the time, talent or resources to build a truck like that from scratch. Watch and see how many other guys come out with trucks to compete with them and how big the desert truck scene is going to get, I can't wait to see the aftermarket grow for these things. It's often much harder to be the first one out with something new, but time and time again Traxxas has proven that they have a keen sense of what the market wants. If people did not want what they were building, they would not sell as much as they do. We obviously spend a lot of our lives around RC cars here at the shop and the hate for Traxxas never ceases to amaze me, I've been into RC for decades and have seen the influence Traxxas has had and they really have been fantastic for the hobby. We have not had a new Traxxas vehicle in the shop for years, but I can tell you that we also have the UDR on order and may pick up a new Revo as well to see what we can do with the electronics in both of them.

I think is justified to "hate" traxxas considering their way of doing business. There is no other RC company making stupid patent for basic stuff and suing other left and right except traxxas.
If they would care about the industry (which the don't) they would not file for patent for basic stuff like waterpffo reciever boxes, wheely bars, lay down shocks and other stuff. The arrma lawsuit did nothing but hurt the industrey and the customers who bought the nero and big rock, and I have said it before, they don't care about the indusrtry and hardly about the customers either they only want to make money to the max.
They are well aware of the shitty servos, yet they use the same old 2075 in the e-revo 2.0, the supposedly state of the art truck in 2018. How is that caring about the customers? Or the x-maxx 6s, that was a flopp, diffs were undersized, esc was problematic and it was also underpowered. Why did they relese the 8s a few months after, did the customers suddenly changed their mind and wanted more power? No, they didn't want to relese a 8s version they wanted to cheap out and put the money on marketing but even the best advertised product doesnt't sell if the quality and value is not there. Depp inside traxxas must have known that a truck the size and weight of the x-maxx is to be run on 8s because that is what people want. They must have also known that the e-revo and e-maxx had undersized diffs judging by all the threads on traxxas forums. But they didn't want to innovate, they wanted to milk the market as long as possible instead of designing something new. I mean even when the brushless e-revo and e-maxx were relesed, the "competitors" such as losi, HPI, thunder tiger, Associated used 1/8 scale buggy diffs and steel CVD on their trucks and metal geared servos. Some might argue that "oh but they used hardware alreaddy developed for their buggys and truggys", well why didn't traxxas develop some real hardware 10 years ago that they could use and build upon?
Even the x-maxx 8s while improved, still suffers from weak differentials and not so good ESC, two important components. They could have easilly sourced a hobbywing max 6 and CNC machined differentials but no, it cost too much they rather want people to buy spare parts to fix an issue that can't be fixed due to poor quality. Traxxas quality is inconsistent, some components are good, others are very bad.

Yes I broke stuff. I broke stuff. I the driver. I with bad landing, or running in the dreaded cold.
1 jump in particular took out my Vorza on its first try, Nero on less then a full run. Outcast almost lasted 8 in box stock but that wheelie bar design. Also YouTube video for these.
What keeps being missed or just not considered is that we, the experienced RC owners, really aren’t the target market. We run, abuse, treat vehicles different from the average buyer.
Average buyer runs few times a month. They see a demo at an event. See it break and get fixed and run again. To them it’s fine.
And us experience owners know what we are getting into.

Patent Rights
I’m surprised and little disappointed to read so many comments complaining about patent rights and a company suing another over patent infringement. I have no idea who is right in this case, but I do know neither company is a non-profit.
The owners, stockholders (think 401K, not the 1%) , employees, the vendors that supply these companies are also not running a charity. None of them are in business for the purpose of, paraphrasing here, helping out the hobby by sharing information like those in the hobby do.
So when a company spends a boatload of money on research and development in order to provide the hobby with the latest and greatest in technological advancement they then provide their competitors with that information so that they can be undercut when that company makes the same product cheaper and possibly even better since they spent zilch on product design.
So all of this would result in basically no new product development since it would be unprofitable to do your own R&D and product development would grind to a halt. Investors disappear, owners and stockholders find another way to replace that lost revenue.
The companies are not like us, the consumers. Those businesses are there for a single reason and that’s money. Don’t get me wrong there are many businesses, and possibly most, that were started by people who had a passion for something and decided to take a shot at it. While at the same time doing something they enjoy along with allowing them to provide for themselves their families and future employees/suppliers. Take the money out of that equation and the hobby or whatever that businesses idea was doesn’t exist.
No disrespect intended. It seems to me that schools are not doing a very good job at explaining how economics, capitalism, competition and free market systems work (I understand there is not a truly free market now but it’s close and orders of magnitude better than any alternative), along logic and reasoning skills. It seems many learning institutions are more interested in creating robots that regurgitate their professors world views.

Yea we're still going! Some say this discussion is off topic. I don't think so. The OP wanted to know if he was crazy for wanting the new Revo. Discussing the business ethics/practices of the company that makes the truck counts to buy it or not. I've said my piece though. I won't be buying anything Traxxas because I don't agree with how they operate. I also won't be buying Arrma ever again. I guess they should have researched their design of the Nero a little more before selling it.
