Hey guys I’m waiting for my battery to come in so I put the 2s I had charged and it wasn’t amazing but it was pretty fun. My question is 18t too high on the 2000kv Tekin set up? It wasn’t hot at all but it was warm to the touch And in my mind it should s been cool. Am I wrong?

I would recommend starting with the smallest pinion possible. I forget off the top of my head whether it’s 14 or 15 tooth. I bet you’ll find it’s fast enough even geared low. It’s going to heat up quick wth an 18.....especially if you drive like me. ...but it’s really how you drive, and tire size.

Anyone use the TKR5199B HRC Rear Hub Set? Are the optional hubs worth it and do they work with the universal driveshafts?
From Tekno:
"The Tekno HRC Rear Hub Set allows you to lower the hinge pin position compared to the stock rear hubs (TKR5199). This raises the rear roll center to provide increased on power traction and stability while decreasing body roll, and these gains also come with improved rotation into a corner and no compromise in on-power steering. To reduce wear and increase part lifespan, they are molded from durable nylon and include locations for hinge pin set screws."

From the manual page 2, the pinion range is 15 to 25
Additional equipment and parts needed:
MOD1 Pinion 15 tooth - 25 tooth (TKR4175 - TKR4185)
Completely agree - start with the smallest 15 tooth.

MT410 w/ Pro-Line Apocalypse Body, Traxxas ExoCage and Pro-line Badlands tires
Finally gave a backyard spin with dual 2S packs in Series and some light jumping in to get a feel for the MT410.
Running RX8 GEN 3 and 2250kv combo, 15T pinion.
Coming from my past experience with Losi XXT and mild novak SS5800 , this is quite amazing. Just another level of r/c
My 3 year old exclaimed..."that is fast"!
I found myself setting the torque setting a bit milder on the Tekin and also did the throttle limit on my Spektrum Dx2e to 75%, just to try and tame the topend for a 1/2 acre backyard.
even with that, the front tires can still kick up and it is more than ample for my abilities with this new r/c experience.
For an impromptu jump setup, I setup a sawhorse and an old hollow-core closet door that I had laying around.
Had a few jumps with rolling end over end crashes before I got consistent with sticking the landings and using the throttle or break to make it land smooth.
Definitely fun to jump with (and the 3 year old agrees too!)
At one point, I managed to loosen the motor in its housing and luckily it just loosened all the way so that the pinion cleared the spur w/o stripping it. I thought I had put enough thread lock on, but this was also pre-dialing down the torque and throttle setting. So, I added more threadlock and a bit of extra torque on the two screws to hopefully make that solid.
The only other item noticed was an ever so slight amount of oil seeping from all 4 of the plastic shock caps (perhaps from the bleeder hole). I thought I had torqued those enough not wanting to crack them...but maybe not. It was not a lot of oil - no gushers or anything, just enough to notice it when running my finger across the caps.
All in all, a fun couple runs through on 4S and I'm looking forward to getting out of the backyard and out into some more open territory!

Finally got my truck built and took it out for the first run on 4s today. Adjusted the brake settings on the tekin from 100% to 50% before my first run. It was a lesson learned as i attempted to stop headed toward a pole at full speed. It didnt stop and i took out my shock cap. lol Alloy ones on the way

Hey Jason, that thing looks sick! Looks like you put a lot of work into that body. I will be interested in seeing how that exocage holds up to the MT410's wild attitude.
Sounds like the shock bleeders are working and maybe you overfilled them a little. I would imagine if the caps weren't on tight enough you would have more fluid coming out and some air noise in the shocks as they are working.
@WhatTheflux you gotta figure out how to get the sweet upgrades somehow and running into a pole at high speed will get you a couple of them.
Congrats on the new rigs guys!!

I upgraded to universal driveshafts (front/rear) and they are 0.35mm thicker than the cvj's. Also, some FlexyTub shock covers too. Took 10 days from Spain to get to me in NY. Went with Mugen Seiki because I used their oil

Tekno Dune Buggy with the hinged cage from the Losi TEN-SCBE.

I love the hinged design!

I made a template to line up the holes on the rear tower.

I used a M3 center locating punch to mark the holes.

Drilled nice and straight.

Connected.

I used the existing hole in the front tower and used the Losi post.

I drilled a hole right in the middle of the front support for the post.

Ill try to get some pictures up soon but my problem was adjusting before i ran it so my brakes were all out of whack. Also should my motor be getting so warm on 4s at 17/44? idk if its normal but i just figured at 2000kv it would run cooler.
