ok but even the exploded diagram available either online or the copy included in the box shows correct bearing orientation ie balls out the back!.
Also if you are fitting a bearing it means you most probably removed a bearing and so common sense would prevail and you'd put the new bearing in the same orientation as the one you removed. Or is that just me??

But that's the problem no one knows this at leat this post will make people aware of it so guys if u take your bearing out and take it completely apart take a black marker and mark the side that has to be on the outside

I really don't see how you are adding to the conversation (mentioning taking the bearing completely apart) by the OP of this particular topic of his engine locking up when he mounts the backplate. It is clear he has just fitted a new bearing and I doubt he took it (the bearing itself) apart first prior to fitting it into the engine

My guess is that he simply hasn't pressed the bearing all the way home.

Who actually in their right mind actually takes the bearing itself apart then reassembles it and sticks it back in the crankcase?? If it is goosed you just fit a new one from the packet and that's that.

Why not just change the bearing as a whole? Surely that this more sensible in retaining integrity? I have never seen anyone do anything other in 20 plus years of playing with these things.

The only reason why I should take my bearings apart is when it is a steel one and I have a bag full of ceramic balls. I was told the ceramic balls just cost about 11 cent a ball so that makes a cheap upgrade for the much cheaper steel bearings.
