Who would have thought, Tamiya who takes its time with being up to date is the first to pull out a 17 style body before the small more nimble companies as well as the first real company to do a realistic rear wing (that Chinese attempt was rubbish) and the second to do a angled front wing.
I hope that you get the option for the Merc teams larger upper airbox and a sharkfin.
Also noticed on redrc that there's no sign of going back to wider 200mm cars. Shame really.

I'm curious to see what the lower deck on the new car looks like. I was never a fan of the f104 's lower chassis and electronics layout. Hopefully, it's been improved.
Selfishly, I was hoping they were going to release a kit that is more in line with current designs.

From what I've heard, it's a t-bar car with an inline battery. I wonder if it's the same t-bar as the F104X1.
Heard it is more F104WGP style t plate, but chassis seems like it is nothing to get excited about. But those wings....
Does anyone have a TCS program running outside of So Cal? My dream hobby shop would be Tamiya heavy with a TCS class or two during the club races.

Eh, a fiberglass WGP would be pretty awesome on asphalt, at the least for TCS races. Cuda is still murdering all challengers with a plain old F104 with a side damper at Tamiya.

Guess I'll save my F1 Paintlab decals for this one....
Not sure if it the other parts will be F104WGP style. I read that this new car will still use a friction plate. But who knows until we see some CAD drawings.

This is ironic as Tamiya Japan dropped F1 class since 2016 from their own TCS series. Why the US F1 National Champion in 2016 had to run sedan in Japan last year at their Worlds. And because Japan did not even run F1 class again in 2017, the US Series dropped F1 as a trip wining class this year. Be willing to bet the F104 Pro II will be very similar to the original F104 Pro T-bar car as Tamiya has gotten really good at rehasing existing molds to "re-release" stuff.
As for the front wing, Associated and Montech already have 2017 style front wings out on the market now. I was running the Associated and switched to the Montech front wing and that is my wing of choice now.

– FRP double deck chassis has a new lower deck design, and an inline (longitudinal) battery position.
– The 1.5mm thick FRP T-bar design with U-shaped cutaway is inherited from the F104WGP. It makes up the rear suspension in concert with friction plates and a TRF damper.
