Default Broken esc case

For some reasons, my Hobbywing Xtreme Stock 60A esc case is in bad shape : the screw threads are broken, the clips do not work anymore. The consequent is that the esc keeps opening while driving.

I need to find a way to glue the upper and lower parts of the case but the section is very thin.

Any ideas or suggestions to fix it?

I was thinking about using shoe goo + wall tape (like for body). Not sure how it supports heat.

Thanks

LRP ESC's in the brushed days used to be taped together at the seam, with a narrow electrical tape.

Either the thin black shipping/strapping tape that carpet guys use for taping their batts to the chassis, or shoe goo/goop. I'd probably go with a thin layer of goop on two opposing sides. Should have you good to go.

I will try the shoo go option and will keep you posted!

You could try posting in the wanted to buy section, I'm sure someone has one that's not working.

Also, have you tried contacting hobbywing or their distributor for a case?

These parts are normally not to find but most of the time easy to get when contacting the distributor. There is a large HW support topic on this forum.

Not everyone has a 3d printer, although I would love to get one if they become affordable. Gorilla tape also works in a pinch.

They are affordable now. There is pretty much no excuse anymore...

Everyone should have one. You will be surprised how handy they can become.

How difficult is it to draw something up and have the printer actually be able to do what you want? My bro-in-law is a gifted computer aided designer, not sure what all programs he uses, but that's his job. I know I can't do anything like he can do. How simpleton do these affordable printers need the drawings to be, and what program do you use to make it do what you want it to do?

Actually I'm a mech eng and cad monkey too... so I suppose I am biased...

Having said that though, I find it very easy to design, draw and print... and I'm only just a beginner too. I'm sure if you can tell up from down and your elbow from your bum, then I'm pretty sure you'd be fine.

Personally I use Autodesk Inventor and Simplify 3D, however there are many free alternatives out there.
