Default Using a Lipo with a vintage esc?

Tried searching and could not find an answer, if I use a 2s Lipo on a vintage esc that can handle it, will it throw off the balance of both cells? I don't want to kill my Lipos if this is the case.

I plan to run a vintage esc and brushed motor with Lipo, I will have a low voltage checker plugged of course.

If this has been discussed I apologize in advance and if you can point me to the thread.

Thanks,

Thanks,
It shouldn't kill the battery as long as the battery isn't defective to begin with. It should draw relatively equal voltage from each cell over the course of the run. They may be a little out of balance after a run, but that's why you need a balance charger to bring the cells back to a happy place.

EDIT: though you'll probably want to attach a low voltage alarm since I am sure that ESC won't have a LIPO cutoff setting.

That's all you need... maybe check temps and possibly re-gear if the longer runs for the LiPo cause more strain than the system is used to:

Your esc has no idea what type of battery you're using. Voltage is voltage. Avoid over discharging and you'll be fine.

I have a couple old e-powered planes that are still running brushed power systems that do not have a Lipo voltage cut offs. What I do is put the plane up for a set amount of time, say 5 minutes, and land. I check the voltage and charge to see how many Mah used and then adjust my flying time from that....this has worked for me for well over a decade.

Cheers,
Jim
