Well, that is a left and right issue. There is a right side C hub and a left side C hub.... If you put the left one on the right side and the right one on the left side you get your problem....

Nice one! The question for me: should I only buy the chassis plates to convert my existing 419x or a complete new kit...

The rest of the kit is the same as the TRF419X so you just need the new plates.

Default TRF419X's shock oil leakage issue

Hi guys,

I have followed very closely to the assemble manual when building my shocks, but I still have this shock oil leakage issue. I have rebuilt them a couple of times but in vain. May I know what can I do to solve this shock oil leakage issue?

Lastly, Tamiya has released the "Tamiya TRF419X Touring Car Large Diameter Short Spring Set #42306" (which I supposed mainly targeted at TRF419X cars), and has anyone tried it? If so, can you please share with me the quality of these TRF419X shock springs as most of the guys at my local track said that Tamiya's shock springs are not recommended for any touring car's shocks (including TRF419X) as compared with other springs such as XRay, SMJ and ARC.

I look forward to your advices, especially the shock oil leakage issue.

Thank you.

Have you tried using team associated green slime on the o rings.it usually helps with leaking shocks.

I'd suggest rebuilding them with the kit shown in picture. The clear Tamiya o-rings are much better!

No. I didn't apply anything on the stock blue o rings. Is the Team Associate's green slime or Axon damper grease better when applying them on the o rings, as some suggested Axon damper grease? Thank you.

Will the Tamiya's orange O rings work too? Also, in the picture, there are clear and white o rings, so which one will actually helps in solving the oil leakage in TRF419X's shock oil leakage issue since there are 2 different answers. :-)

Lastly, may I know do I need to apply the Team Associate green slime or Axon damper grease on the o rings?

Thank you.

The white plastic are not o rings, they are the first part of the rod guides.

In the TRF419X assemble manual, the rod guides (white color ones) look very different. So if I were to rebuild using this kit, I will need to replace the stock rod guides with these new rod guides, meaning have to change to every items in this rebuild kit? Thank you.

You don't have to, you can simply use the silicone o-rings and keep the rod guides you have. However, when I moved completely over to the white rod guides and the silicone o-rings i noticed a significant difference in being able to hold the airtight seal in the dampers. I have been told that the white guides are not as durable as the black ones in the 419x.

Thanks for your prompt reply. So the key component of this rebuild kit is the clear silicone O rings (to replace the stock blue O rings) and the rest of the rebuild kit are optional? Also, I need to apply damper grease on the clear O rings and that will prevent the oil from leaking? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

There is this red/orange O rings and are they better than the clear O rings?

Thank you again.

1) Correct, the key item is the silicone o rings
2) Yes, apply green slime or some other grease that is compatible with silicone. You would apply this to the o ring, the inside of the rod guide, and the rod where the threading is. Putting a generous amount of green slime on the threads will help prevent damaging the o rings.
3) I don't know about the red/orange o rings, I have never used them.

edit:
Can anyone explaint o me the love for the red o rings? Why not use these:
