Looking for some help my sons SC6 junked another modified three gear gear box. I am looking to switch it over to a four gear mid motor like the one i am running. I can't find a four gear mid motor gear box on Amain. Anyone know what or where i need to be looking for one. If anyone has one built or bare case i would go that route if you wanted to sell one. We are really happy with how they handle our small indoor dirt track my son in making the A consistently as for me i still crash too much but its not the cars fault I'm too old and slow.

Hey guys, just picked up an SC6 for my son(Novice Racer). We are going to set it up as stock short course and I might race it myself on the side. I need a starting setup, but more importantly I need to know which battery to purchase for this truck. I'm seeing saddles, blocks, shortys in the setup sheets. Which would be best? Or should I just set it up rear motor with long pack for the novice?

What piston configuration are preople liking? 2 1.6 front 2 1.7 rear.

What kind of track are you racing on?

For 17.5 racing I prefer a high power shorty set all the way back with the ESC on top of it. I get good traction and the truck is still on the light side. My setup is for medium to high traction dirt.

This setup has worked well for me, I also tried the Avid 2x1.5/2x1.1 in front and 2x1.6/2x1.1 out back and felt it landed jumps a bit better.

I like the 5 hole pistons that come in the kit (W5303-06). Here is a quick overview of my suspension setup that works really well for me on medium to high bite clay.


Front:
Kyosho 5 Hole Pistons (W5303-06)
AE 50wt Shock Oil
Kyosho Orange Front Springs (XGS023)

Rear:
Kyosho 5 Hole Pistons (W5303-06)
AE 30wt Shock Oil
Kyosho White Rear Springs (XGS035)

Stock SCT is 17.5T in my neck of the woods. If you are racing on medium to high bite clay, I would configure the truck for MM and use the 3 gear transmission option from Kyosho. For the battery, I would use a regular shorty pack (~5000mah capacity) and position it all the way to the rear. ROAR minimum weight for 2wd SCT is 2099g.

The SC6 that you have has been modified so that the shorty pack can be mounted transverse and all the way to the rear with respect to the chassis. I am not sure if the battery can be held down just by the parts in the picture. you may need to put double sided tape on the bottom of the battery to make sure it does not pop out.

With an 8.5T motor, I would start out with 84/20 gearing and go from there. Kyosho does not make an 84T spur so you will have to go to another brand for this configuration. If you have the Kyosho 82T spur, try 82/19 to start. Gearing is typically determined while at the track taking acceleration, top speed, and temperatures into consideration.

In MM configuration, RF2 is the correct hanger for the Front Rear. His configuration is not correct in this case. For the Rear Rear hanger, your truck has the Revolution Design aftermarket part for MM configuration. Hopefully the previous owner gave you all of the delrin inserts so that you can tune the rear suspension geometry.

In my experience with Kyosho, utilizing OEM parts is the best.

Our local tack is running a stock class short course class. They only let you run a 17.5 motor. Does anyone have any advice or experience for gearing on this for a tight medium to high traction indoor dirt. I am running a mid motor configuration with a four gear.

Ended up getting the bottom deck hydro dipped.

My kid wanted to run short course this past weekend and we left the kit springs on his truck but ran Kyosho oil, 500 front and 400 rear with the 5 hole piston. That seemed to work pretty well so another thumbs up for 5 hole pistons.

FWIW, he also ran a shorter pack down the center of the chassis and not across it.

I have hear 2x1.5x1.1 in the front really gets rid of the bouncy front, thus much better pack? If so I am going to try
