That has happened to me too, but only 4-5 times in the last 5 years.

It seems like you're experienced given your signature, but it really sounds like something is wrong. I have 6 months on one gel, never having removed it, never having come loose. Surface prep, proper wiring so that no wires are ever "pulling" the ESC in a certain direction away from it's mounting point, etc go a very long way. I've been using it for years and it's one of the best mounting tools out there aside from Scotch Hook and Loop Fastener Tape which is like Velcro on steroids. This however doesn't give you the cushion the gel can.

Industrial Velcro and Zip ties are your friend.

Yes The HD velcro provides more than ample "squish"

Kyosho gel, No thanks. Been there done that.

Here's a trick I've used on my heli's when using gel to dampen vibration. Vibrations in a Heli can kill it, literally.

Take some good 3M servo tape (double sided mounting tape) not the stuff you buy in a hobby store, the 3M tape you buy at Home Depot etc. be warned if you use the gray 3M tape you may not get your ESC/servo off withou damage.

Cut your gel tape. Cut either 4 small squares of the 3M tape to fit just the corners of the gel tape and the corners of whatever you're mounting, or cut 4 small narrow strips of the 3M tape to fit two side of the gel and whatever your mounting. Don't cover the entire gel pad top an bottom, you'll spend a long time getting the gel off you car and electronics if you do.

Stick the gel to the car and then the electronics to the gel.

The gel won't come off the car and the electronics will stay n the gel. I run several flybarless controllers on this way and I've had my RX8 Gen2 mounted in my EB48 and SCT410 for a ver a year sing this method with zero issues.

I've got 8 fans that have the older Gen1 connector, and I'd hate to just throw them away. I know it's probably not a part that Tekin sells separately, but I'm sure there's an electronics supplier somewhere that has them. I just don't know what type of plug it is.

As an alternative, if anyone has a few dead fans that they could cut the wires off of and mail to me, I'd appreciate it. I don't need the whole fan, just the connector, and maybe an inch of wire so I have something to grab on when I'm removing the pins. All it'll cost is the price of a stamp.
Mike,

As I told you, as soon as I could find it, I'd send you the components. Just a little more than $.50 a plug with two pins.

Here is the plug

I put a rx8 gen1 back into the buggy yesterday that had previously worked fine and now it isn't. When in sensored mode, the motor will not spin up, but rather vibrate back and forth. This goes away if unplugging the sensor wire. I have tried replacing both the sensor wire and the motor with new ones, neither of which has worked, allowing me to narrow it down to the esc. Anyone had this happen and if so what's the fix?

Sounds like the ABC motor wire is in the incorrect order.

Default Tekin update

I currently have a gen 2 with version 249 on the esc and I'm really happy with the way it runs. What are the benefits of version 250. Thanks for any help.

Default Fan Bearings

Can the bearings in the RX8 Gen2 be easily replaced? On of my fans is louder than normal when ESC starts and I'm assuming dirt is in the bearings.

Improved braking and throttle performance. It's always best to run the latest.

There are no bearings in the esc

But the fan is best to be replaced if it's become noisy.

Is there a Y adapter that can be made or used so I don't have to unscrew the lid of my radio box when I want to make an adjustment via Hotwire?

With the Gen 2 you use the adapter and can can tune through the fan port. no need to access the receiver.

There should be no reason you can't use a Y harness though.

No, you can't use a "Y" harness in this case. On a Gen1, you must do direct into the servo lead.

On a Gen2, you can use the "EZ" program port which is also the fan port, or the servo lead.
