This isn't simply a "Y adapter" because there are active electronics in the thing, but this will let you program a Tekin ESC without needing to unplug anything from the RX or the ESC. I know it is a product from a competing manufacturer, but I have used it with Tekin ESCs and it does work:

Default Use bec or no need

Hey I just got a rx8 gen 2/t8 1900 combo and I know it has an internal bec but I usually bypass them when using them with my other esc's with an external one. My question is when using the rx8 in a tlr 3.0 ebuggy with a hitec hs-7954sh servo is the esc able to provide the servo with enough power through the internal bec and spectrum sr2000 or should I still use a bec?

The Gen 2's BEC is plenty strong enough for what you have. If you have the hotwire you can bump the Voltage up to 7.4v and utilize the full potential of that servo.

I'm trying to diagnose a problem I had Saturday. I think it is ether a battery reaching end of life, heat issues, or another pending ESC failure, as the last 2 times this happened my ESC ended up totally dying a few packs later.

Coming around a turn about 6mins into the race with my eTruggy, the power totally cut off battery and steering. On my way down the stand it came back to life so I started limping it around the track. Towards the end it would cut out when hitting the throttle but stay on and finally literally died on the finish line to finish the race but with steering still working.

Low voltage cut-off in the ESC?

I think that might have been what happened at the end, it was a 12 min race. As normally when it hits LVC the steering still works and I did click in the last lap although I was rolling without power over the line.

However with the first cut off I lost steering as well. Wasn't sure if that was a sign of overheat or battery dropping really low.

It was about 50 - 60 deg outside and i'm running the same gearing and battery type (SMC 6500 4s) that I've used in the middle of July in GA running 20min mains with the nitros. Had to marshal afterwards so couldn't get a temp gun on it.

I have a new rx8 gen 2 and 1900kv combo I put in my buggy, was at the track for the first time with it yesterday. Everything was running well, temps never about 140 on esc or motor. Toward the end of the second pack lost power at the end of the straight. Still have power to steering servo. First two lights and last two lights are blinking- according to manual this indicates possible short in esc or motor. All the solder connections look great. Checked voltage on battery and it was not at LVC. I don't have another motor or esc to try and find out where the issue is. My main question is there something I can try to see if I can get it running again or do I just need to call customer support?

oh yeah- when the switch is on the fan is running the whole time as well now- don't know if that bit helps reason out the issue.

have you tried removing/replacing the sensor cable ? Fan on All the time is something that can be setup on the hotwire, so no real indication if something up.

I'd suggest looking at your ABC connections to assure they're all good to go. Also, fan running all the time can be a sign of loos radio signal. Do all the LED's flash?

I'll check the sensor cable better, It seemed to be good to go but I'll pull the connectors and put them back in. All the ABC connections seem to be just as solid as when I first installed them on both the motor and ESC, plus I would expect if it was a radio signal issue the tires wouldn't turn. It's only the first two and last two lights that are on.

I've read through a good 60-70 pages and haven't seen anything on this yet, But I have a problem trying to get my truck into reverse. The delay doesn't seem to be very consistent, sometimes it will go right in with minimal delay and sometimes it takes forever. I have a pro4hd and a futaba 4px radio. Is there a way to remove or adjust the delay? It's not an issue during races, but on open track days, not being able to get out of the way can be a problem.

I just purchased an completely new 4x4 SCT setup: Tekno 410.3, Tekin RX8 G2 w/ Tekin Pro4 HD 4300 motor (running 2S). I ordered it with a 16 and 17T pinion for my track that has 140ft straight and a bunch of 180* turns/jumps. With that in mind, did I pick the correct pinions to test? Thanks.

BTW, two fellow racers have the Tekno 410 - one running 4000kv Xerun, and the other the Tekin HD 4300. The Tekin owner uses a 15T pinion, and is having on-throttle traction problems, the 4000kv uses a 17T and is smooth on acceleration. I know there may be other setup issues, but it seems the smaller pinion is too aggressive on the low end. Any thoughts?

I generally run a 17T on my 410.3 w/4300hd. Some people also run 18T. If you turn your current limiter down, it will smooth out acceleration. I believe I'm at about 70. Several run in the 60s on their current limiter.

One thing I noticed is that my cars pretty much have to come to a complete stop (doesn't matter that I'm not on the throttle) and then wait the 1 sec before it will go in reverse.
