I was pretty settled on getting a Mito 7. This weekend at the track, I was told that they have a smaller tuning window than most (OS, Picco, Reds, etc.). This is my first year running nitro so obviously I'm not the best engine tuner. Any thoughts on the ease of tuning Nova engines?

The issue with blanket terms, is they have no basis.
I've been taught that long stroke motors just plain have a smaller tuning window compared to short strokes. I've experienced this first hand, however, long strong motors aren't any harder to tune IMO. Just listen to the motor, and pay attention to how it feels, and you'll be just fine.

There is no "hard to tune" or "easy to tune" nitro engine. There are long and short needle carb and there is where the tuning process is different. After setting a good iddle gap on both (0.5mm-0.6mm depending of the brand) In the first you start tuning on the LSN going to the HSN then returning to the LSN, in the second the HSN do almost 90% of the tuning so you start with HSN then go to LSN. Always tune by performance and sound, never by temp and you will be ok.

They will work OK down to about 4.82~4.84 when catastrophic failure of the rod becomes a possibility.
That's my findings on actual use.
I would not put money towards a new rod on a repinch if the crank isn't 4.90 at least.
These numbers are from my personal experience with engines, other people will tell you other numbers but usually those people want to sell more cranks and rods.

Fellas quick question........for those that have experience with mito4 and btta or keepoff. Would u say the mito is not as smooth on the power delivery? I like the delivery of the btta, its a little smoother than my fusion x3. Im wanting a mito but a buddy stated that with the stroke being so long it may b a light switch! (aggressive bottom) Is this true??
Thanks
Thanks

Elite 8 vs. Legend 25?
Blue Paloma .21 vs. Elite 8?
No racing (probably..), more interested in raw power. Could end up in anything from a truggy for the track to an SC8 for the street to a DM-1 to a buggy.. Just want silly nitro power.
I remember reading back in the day about bearing issues with the Roma... Don't both of these engines come with the good NR blue bearing? At these prices I wouldn't be in a rush to do bearing or rod changes.. Just sayin'..
Edit - Jeeze.. Just checked.. Legend .28 for $138 is pretty interesting too..
Double edit - So OK, no more Elite 8 for $199... So blue Paloma vs. Legend 25 vs. Legend 28... Basically, what's the most power you can get for under 200 bucks?..
And now I see the Elite 5 for $119 at SLH.......
