Blui3, very nice track there !
I am thinking about changing my F104X1 with front F103 arms (which I have already) and foam tyres,
then buying this TRF102 to use it with my current Ride R1 rubber (which I currently use in my 104X1).
I love Tamiya too much to buy a Xray X1 or similar.. and I think that with the good driver the lap times won't be so different !!

That wire is too thick. You really only need to use 16awg wire. It will allow the rear pod to move more freely.

You also really don't need a fan typically for 21.5 blinky

Dean's Brand noodle wire or Muchmore seems to be the most flexible as well.

Ok, I was being lazy before as the ends where already soldered. Dropped 28 grams now.

I have not run this car on carpet yet, but in anticipation I was thinking the chassis may need to be a bit stiffer. As it turns out, part of the R Sector upper deck fits perfectly to link the forward chassis holes to the middle bulkhead. A couple F104 chassis posts fit perfectly for the front holes.

Had to make a decision,

Race the ROAR Onroad Nationals at the Tamiya USA track (my home track).
Cost $100 entry
$35 ROAR membership
$30 set tires x 3 or ?

Minimum to play $225.

or get my new TRF 102. $205 (not from anywhere in the U.S. of course)

Easy choice since ROAR poo poo'd the F1 class for this race and chose 1/12 and World GT foam classes which both got sad to no interest.
I get it I guess but C'MON MAN!

Tamiya's Track and F1 is a no brainer.

Looking forward to getting my new ride.
Need to see if it can hang with the trusty F60/X1 car

Ran my TRF102 for the first time (Finally!!) last night - Very impressed.

Using 575/573 combo on a low grip and cool track (air temp was about 13C) it was very drive-able with kit settings, with just a touch of power on over-steer as the tyre temps normalised during a run. I tried a softer spring on the pitch damper and that kept the car balanced a little longer but it still needed a bit more to be good for the entire run.

Looking forward to putting it on a track with some actual grip, but that probably won't happen for another month or so.

hey 'cuda:

didnt get the chance on saturday to debrief with you about the 102...

looked like it was giving you some trouble on those last couple of runs, esp coming out of the inner sweeper and into the kink. was it a balance problem front to rear, or lack of grip overall? seemed like transitioning right-to-left under power really upset the chassis.

do you feel like it has potential or ???

as you know, i'm a die-hard V2 fan.... but i do own a 102 kit hmmmmm.

Nah, I made a couple changes at the same time and messed it up.

It did not like the ride height down to 4mm in the rear at all.
5 to 5.5 is gonna be my go to for Tamiya track

I think I can go back to the earlier set up and be good again.

Car has potential for sure, ran pretty strong in it's first few runs

The newly crowned TCS National Champ had some helpful tips to share as well, he of course won the Finals with the TRF 102
