Dale, are you going to be able to make the rear deck as shown in the video. The 2016 Ford GT is very low it is going to be a real challenge to build that to fit around touring car shock mounts. Can't wait to see your representation of the 2016 Ford GT.

Yo Dale, my man, I can't wait to see how you put this one together.

At this point I'm not sure how I'm going to do the rear 3rd portion of that car. Without a doubt, it'll be a real challenge. The dihedral wing thingies will need to be add-on pieces..... There will inevitably be a few compromises here and there just to make it thermo-formable.

I know that this is the USGT thread, but a body to fit on a 200mm pan car, like the new GT-R class, might allow for some scale realism that the TC shocks and towers might require going without. ;-)

I'm going to take a wild guess that you are not a businessman.

Speaking hypothetically, lets just imagine that Nike or Reebok decided to market a special edition "Scott Meeks" running shoe and started selling them all over the world. (without even contacting you) They even used your picture on the packaging. Well....you'd probably be flattered for a while, but before long the full implications of their marketing plan would gradually filter into you grey matter. At that point you'd probably be screaming a lot of nasty expletives and hiring a lawyer who's known for playing hardball with cases like yours.

Now....back to reality for a moment. My rather pathetic example is to illustrate the exact thing that is happening within the RC world, all over Asia, Italy and I'm sad to say......Arizona. Quite simply it's called STEALING, plain and simple.

The law is the same for everyone that owns a for-profit business. No exemptions for "nice guys" or businesses that have been around for "X" number of years. This type of thing goes well beyond only the legal realm. It breaks age-old and agreed-upon ethical and moral principals/laws as well.

I think we all understand brand licensing. I think the point ASM was getting at was.....your comment seemed like a petty dig at competing company, and things like that don't always come across as being professional.

As for the new Ford GT....I think it is an amazing looking car. I hope that you can do it justice.....it really looks like a challenging body to reproduce. I really like the scale realism of the USGT class, and don't want to see it become a class full of blob bodies like other classes have become.

Dale, you are correct I don't own a business. I spend my working hours managing a supply chain dept, a materials dept, a production planning group, and shipping & receiving dept for a defense contractor that specializes in producing radar jamming aircraft equipment, devices that turn the F16 into a drone and things of that nature. Far from the world of toy cars, though I wish it was the other way around.

DBM was basically correct. You've posted that statement quite a few times. My thought is this; your company is the industry leader in rc bodies. I value your work, products, ideas, and concepts. However, when I read a jab like that over and over, all appreciation for your post goes out the window. I believe you to be above that and to present the example of being the best. But hey, what do I know, I'm not a businessman lol. Now back to what this thread is about... a GT40 is something we'll all look forward to.

Dale after looking at the video again your challenge is eminence! How close the body height wise to z the rear tires. Also the open Area behind the door will be interesting how you contour that area in the body. As you being a scale artist I'm sure it will be bada$$. I will be excited to try one. In your testing can you try one with the area behind the door opened up see what that does to the handling of the body.

It gave the car a slight entry push on power but if I let off before the turn, turn the wheels and punch it it pulls it through on the line that i want. It's kind of fun racing 4wd cars and watching the reaction of the drivers when you can turn inside them and pull out as hard as they do. I really wish there was a FWD class...
I was running 1mil and went to 2.5mil in the front diff. You are correct, night and day difference. I was able to pull out of the corners almost as hard as a 4wd. What little I lacked was not enough to give a 4wd a pass, and even on the straight, turned into a drag race that I rarely lost. I can't carry the corner speed in a sweeper that a 4wd can, but in the twisty stuff it is a lot more competitive.

Ran the battery all the way forward over the weekend and tried to tune around it. The rear end still hops a little, and went softer rear springs which helped a bit. I am finding with it all the way forward, the rear end is a little less predictable, especially late into the run as the tires tend to gum up a little bit (was happening to the TC as well). I think I will end up with the battery somewhere forward of the middle, but need to play with it some more as traction changes (new layout at Thunder is only a week old).

Car is definitely faster, but still a ways off pace. I put the majority of that on me though with only 2 practice days of on-road since January (and no race days). Not that I was that fast before.

I know he will.... I also know when he does his test and tune days, he puts in real work so I know that all his cars will be fast. Hey Orcadigital, I'm looking forward to our rematch buddy....

Default UPDATE

PF Caddy update on the carpet(HIGH BITE)

I wanted to make sure my car would be legal everywhere so I ditched the supplied rear wing and used a lexan wing from one of my PF Speed6's. I had an extra set of uprights from an old PF Camaro that I was able to cut 6* angle into and then cut the wing down to 10mm. I also made a guage to quickly check my wings for future reference in case the tracks I go to go strictly by the rules for lexan wings. I wanted to try my buddies new PF Camaro to compare but the new body posts on the Awesomatix were not long enough for the front to not drag the carpet. The new Camaro's front splitter is massive. It has to be very good on the pavement.

Back to the Caddy update. It was awesome. I cried. .....Still slightly sobbing from the lap times.
