Tamiya mini cooper
just did some searches for that Tamiya tool set, looks like it came in red and blue coloring. Last one I saw sold was in 2012 for $200. Yep discontinued for a long time and very desirable. You are very lucky to have a set!

Okay Back to the Ball Diffs
I did an autopsy on both of the troubled Ball Diffs whiles I was waiting on the storms arrival
this evening , which never came in my district, so all was quiet
I took apart the two Ball Diffs in question and tried to retighten (lock) them up
Which I couldn't get them to my desired torqueness (Is that even a word?)
Anyway,
It seems that the plastic hoogienoogie that holds the airplane nut in the axel
cracked (hairline!) on both. Which explains why they got so loose all of a sudden.
So now my question to the net is
Is there a metal replacement for this hoogienoogie, or do I have to go back with the
damn plastic and hope that no further hairlines develop???

The red ones came out when the Surikarn EVO.III was released, that's why they are red. There was also a red car stand, camber gauge and set up board at the same time. Blue tools from that time are the same...just blue. The current TRF blue tools are better than the old ones, especially the nut drivers.
Speaking of tools, do you guys use any ratcheting drivers?
I use a Wera ratchet driver for my RC's and it is very good. Just as long as you're not doing a lot of loose screws. There is some play vs regular drivers so that might turn people off while doing very precise driving, but for the most part, this is what I use. This and the Panasonic low power electric driver. I have regular drivers too, of course.

I will check out the nut drivers.

No bearings for initial build?
Talk about a big chunk if plastic though.
I wonder how much that thing weighs.
And I can almost see that servo saver already giving you tracking problems. (this is a joke).
Thanks for sharing!

If I'm not mistaken, Eric builds most of the new kits for Tamiya USA. I'm not mistaken that Eric does a lot of the building, just don't know for sure that Eric is EricP.
My guess is that it is cause he has the kit before the rest of the crowd. In fact the first 05v2 that I saw was one of his builds. The crew at the Tamiya USA track got a prerelease preview of that kit. Very neat builder, creative in his solutions to problems, and a very good wheel.
This is more of a Facebook type post from here. I'm almost thru all the chemo and radiation treatments, so I'm trying to head out to the track tomorrow. At least the intention is there cause the batteries are on charge. It will be interesting to see how much the driving has fallen off. Sorry, if this annoyed anyone.
