If you already have the SP, you might as well try it. I have mine in a M05 mini with the blue sensor board set at about 1/2 and its an absolute rocket.

I think speedpowerrc sells them. You can find people periodically selling timing boards pretty cheap.

I run basically the green timing board now and like the feel.

Default Usgt lipo selection

Thanks for the recommendation on lipo brands. How important is lipo capacity? For instance, 5000 mah is plenty to finish a race, but is there a benefit to having more mah at the expense of added weight? Perhaps a higher voltage throughout the run?

Yes. High mah is better. I run 7200's. Dont know the exact weight, but I still have to add about 30g to my car to get 1450g.

I will add onto this. 6000 + is what you want to run. In theory the higher MAH the longer your battery will be in a higher volt range and that = more power. So simple answer is higher mah the better. Now to make things more complicated is the IR or internal resistance of a battery. I have been running 6000 mah batteries because they had a lower IR then most 7200. Lower IR means more power going to use or more efficient vs just wasted on heat. Most battery manufactures do not list the IR of a battery though. So the safe route is a higher mah pack. You will need to add weight to most cars regardless of 6000 or 7200+.

It's hard to say if the biggest capacity is the best. There is a limit on the physical size of the battery, and max capacity may not be best for the IR. THis is just a theory I have but SMC said their best performing packs (at one point) were not the 7200 or whatever they had but like 6000 or 6500.

I think that some of the numbers on the packs are not accurate. I have a SMC saddle pack that out performs packs with larger mah numbers. That's probably true of other brands.

Decided to share a picture of my USGT on a messy workbench. This was a 3 months ago when the body was new. Doesn't look as nice, now.
