I used a Zagg invisishield screen protector for a Samsung phone. I found it on sale at SAMs club for ten bucks. I used the original screen protector for a pattern.

Zagg is a good alternative for DIY, but if you are looking for a 4PX specific screen protector, Ron @ Cruzin with RC's has them in stock, they come 2, one for the main screen and the other for the smaller screen.

While the hard case aluminum coming for it is sexy looking, I don't want to carry a hard case and would rather a soft bag with a shoulder strap so I can sling it on like a messenger bag.
I use my ProTek case from my 4pks. Fits just fine without any modifications.

For the price this radio sounds like there is too much going on with it. Glitches, updates, sd card blah blah, screen scratches easy. I like futaba but it seems like too many issues. Or am I just reading unnecessary "extra" stuff that are extra features that I wouldnt need to really be messing with. I have a 3pls and want to upgrade to a faster radio is all.

some of us have issues with the radio some don't, still haven't been able to pinpoint if the glitch issue is the radio or receiver, I went and bought a new receiver, haven't been able to test it yet. Radio is great (when I don't have problems) I run three cars with it, only have problems with one so far....

yes.... use a protector... or a microfiber with a bit of car body wax brings it back to new

Thanks, the ProTek is a nice case, but is a hard case. I'm looking for a soft case, otherwise I would just buy the Futaba 4PX Hard case when it's available in March.

I was thinking maybe the Lowe Pro camera bag that may carry my laptop as well as the 4PX, Ipod, and Bluetooth speaker for the pit.

We all find our own reasons to buy or not buy.... That said I have not used mine yet, but will try it out tomorrow. Being Futaba, if there are major issues, I'm sure they'll get them resolved.

Guys I race gas boats. I just got the radio and I have had zero problems. I have two fast receivers (604 and 614), and three of the telemetry receivers. On the offshore course we run pretty far away from the drivers stand and have had no problems. No glitching, no losing signal or anything. Works great.

Thanks for the reply guys. I would assume that the rx that comes with it would be the fastest one to use, and as the most reliable one?

I had thought about the m12 but ive had prior issues with airtronics on more than one occasion. And the radio seems heavier and more bulky. But price.....

Tried to search the thread but didn't find anything.
For some obscure reason, neither of my chargers will actually charge the Futaba LiFe battery I bought with this radio. So, two questions:

a) Anyone got any idea why ? I've only tried to charge it trough the balance port though, maybe that's all wrong when I'm thinking about it?

b) Does anyone know what kind of charger I can plug directly into the radio?

Thanks for any input.

What is your charger? Needs to have a LiFe setting and should be balanced charged ideally.

I'm thinking the same thing. I really want this radio, but I don't want any problems after spending over $600 with an extra receiver and case.

I know with previous models of futaba transmitter u couldn't charge the life batt in the transmitter, it would just not work because of the internals of the tx. Try taking the batt out to charge.

Current Futaba 4PX User Guide/Manual: http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/4px-manual.pdf

Regarding the charging of LiFe batteries, please take note of the bottom of Page 20.
