I have started taking some rear toe out of mine too after installing the lrc rear block.

Default Center Diff

So what's the consensus on how to get the center diff out in the most efficient/fastest way?

Later,
Take the 6 screws on the bottom of the chassis out. Then the 4 on stop of the diff housing. then it opens open by pivoting the center braces around the brake linkage.

^ what he said.... except you also need to dettach the linkage, I recommend doing this at the servo horn end(flat head and lock nut end) of the brake linkage as opposed to removing a collar, this way you dont have to worry about resetting your brakes.

When removing the 6 screws be cognizant of the fact that the 2 going into the brace are slightly longer than the 4 going into the diff mounts.

Just bought an nb48 and eb48.2 switching from mbx6,

I scanned through the posts briefly but do not have time to sift through all the pages, is there anything that is truly needed when putting these kits together? Or will everything pan out fine going by the instruction manual on both?

Thank you !

instructions are second to none... so nothing to worry about there, if there are extra shims in with your diffs then use the dark ones, this was an update to the kit.

In terms of parts/hop ups, nothing is needed other than the aluminum servo horn which tekno sells for all three spline counts. If you really want to buy something you can get the aluminum center drive shafts, tini shock shafts and delrin shock inserts... all which are a nice upgrades but by no means a necessity, maybe best for your next rebuild. For tuning, obviously some springs but also the LRC rear brace. For the NB48 specifically, I recommend the 10 degree offset brake cam, not sure if this was a running change to the kits or just an option part but it will really help with brake setup.

Later,
Front two out of the top plate, rear two out of the diff mount under the car. Pull back and lift up. You will need to remove the brake linkage as well. Just 4 screws.

the rear center diff mount piece is connected to the rear center brace, how do you remove that without also removing the screws from the brace? And doing it that way you will have to reset your brake linkage everytime, no?

Lol I was thinking of it backwards. Ive done it with just those 4. I usually just pull the screw out of the front brake linkage lever, and pull the horn on the servo.

i guess it could work but id rather not reset my brakes and also sounds like it would be a pain to get the diff back in and get the drive shafts to line up but obivoulsy do whatever works for you. I like to do the 6 bottom screws and the flat head and locknut on the servo horn and pull the whole assembly out, this way I can check and adjust the brake pads while I am in there and often times I am cleaning the chassis at the same time so removing the whole thing makes that easier as well.

After a race day I pull the fuel tank and clean and inspect, then engine and pipe by removing the four cap head screws attaching engine to mounts and clean and inspect(i do not remove the engine with the mounts still attached, again because I dont want to re-mesh everytime, although always check the mesh either way) and then I pull the center diff and brake assembly and clean and inspect. With the center diff removed I can then check the feel of the front and rear diffs and decide whether they need to be serviced.

Hey has anybody driven and xb8 2014 and then switched to Tekno? How do they compare is Tekno getting ready to release a new car ? I like X-ray ,stable easy to drive and almost indestructible but they change cars to often to keep up . But with all that said X-ray was way more stable then my mbx7 so I am not looking to go back that way . To the slippery back that Neva seems planted . Any help would be great .

I have not owned a XB8 but have helped a friend with his and spent a lot of time driving his. The XB8 is pretty amazing but the tekno is just as good. The driving style is different though and may take some getting used too. The way the 2 cars tune is different as well. It will take some time to adjust but I certainly think you will be happy with a NB48. As far as I am aware there is no plan for a new car anytime soon.
