The AE FActory Team B44.2 Thread

I have the Avid chassis and the Schelle chassis and shorty conversion. I have yet to run it as I bought it from a member of this thread. It is currently built with the stock chassis so is it recommended to run it as is (stock) or use the Schelle chassis and shorty conversion? This is My first foray with a 1/10 scale buggy as I'm coming from an 1/8 scale RC8.2e FT.

Yes absolutely run the schelle shorty conversion! In my opinion after running this car with the shorty conversion it is a must have the car just comes alive with the shorty! It is sooo easy to drive fast it corners and handles better jumps and lands better which is huge for me bc I hated having it chassis slapping everywhere. So in short yes deff run the shorty conversion.

Nice little mod I did tonight. I like the larger footprint of the B5M wing mount. So I removed the standard B44 wing mount and mounted up the B5M piece with lower hole going through the tower brace upper hole and then used the wing mount holes. Use 5mm of spacers on the top and longer 4/40 screws. All geometry is spot on.

Chassis swap completed. I need to get a sensored motor and ESC though. I installed my old sensorless Duratrax Onyx 3650 and Onyx SC10 (rebadged HobbyWing SC10 WP) temporarily. It's a very nice driving buggy! I am very much impressed!

Ok I need some help from anyone who has the Schelle shorty conversion. Obviously I am running it and my rear end doesn't seem to want to settle for instance when I am getting on a straight away and gun it my car wants to go side to side. I have got it better but still not the way I want it.
I am running 1.6s in the front 35w yellow springs and 1.7s in the rear 32.5w and black springs. I am also just running the black sway bar in the rear and inner hole on the top front and outer on the arms, middle hole on the top rear and inner on the arm.
If you need any more info please let me know and any help is greatly appreciated!

The chassis bolts right on, however it is longer and you will need other pieces to make it work. Need the lipo tray, longer rear center cvd, dofferent slipper and top deck.
I have a new 44.1 chassis I'd sell if you're interested.

Hello all,
I recently bought a used B44 that came with a bunch of spare parts including a B44.2 chassis. The complete car is built on a B44 chassis. I haven't had time yet to go through all the parts to ID which is which but I'm hoping there are more 44.2 parts. I bought it just to play around with and so my son can play with my Losi XXT.
I've read in a lot of places that the diff gears wear out pretty quickly. I'm not planning on racing but I do want to be able to run it on just about any surface (concrete, grass, dirt, etc). I've done a lot research and found that you can install gear diffs but those are a little pricey and possibly overkill for me. So then I found these...(Can't post links yet, sorry)

They also offer aluminum versions. I figure for about $60 I can have piece of mind and not have to tear it down nearly as often. Instead of replacing pretty much the whole diff I would just be cleaning and changing the grease.
Thoughts?

Yeah, I've read that too. If shimmed properly and the rest of the diffs are put together perfectly, how long could they last when used for running round the house (road, grass, dirt)? Spring to Fall and around 2-4 times per week in the evenings.

Fairly indefinitely, I ran the same gears for well over a year and probably still have them in the box somewhere. Took them apart for ball and diff ring replacement but reused the gears every time.

I also am now in a little bit of a dilemma so I thought I would throw it out there for anyone to comment on.
The B44 I ordered was supposed to be a B44.1 so I asked for a refund even though I new the listing said no refunds. The guy offered me $20 to go towards parts so that I can use the B44.2 chassis and said he was told that's what it was. I know, not my problem. He has 100% feedback and answered all my pre-sale questions right away so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. But at the same time I want more than $20! So I have some choices to choose from (in no particular order):
A: Sell the B44 complete chassis with spare parts. Sell the B44.2 bare chassis with a few spare parts. Then buy what I want.
B: Sell the B44. Keep the 44.2 chassis and buy all the parts I need to complete it.
C: Take as much off the B44 chassis as I can and move it over to the 44.2 chassis then sell what I can't use.
A seems a little risky since I may not make enough to buy what I want. B seems like it may be too much trouble to find and buy all the parts I need. And C would get me a running car sooner. Either way, I feel like I should try to get as much from this guy as I can. I know it's a little heavy for a Monday. Sorry about that!
