Tekno RC EB48 Thread
Anyone still like to run the Kyosho blue springs front and rear? The buggy I just bought came with a set already installed and just bench testing they feel great. Can't wait to get these electronics in and give it a test run this weekend!
To people that run the blues what pistons and oils do you find is a good all around setup?

I run the Light Blue Kyosho fronts and Orange rears (highlighted in Bold above). The Orange rears are 1 step softer than the Light Blue rears.
I purchased these when I bought the EB-48.2 kit as they seemed to be a common non-Tekno part used in a variety of user setups. Not being a fan of using other brand parts for a tuning aide, I resisted using these for a few months.
I put in a lot of practice and test and tune time with this car. One test and tune session was aimed completely at spring comparison. Of the 2 sets of fronts and 3 sets of rear Tekno springs, the Light Blue Kyosho fronts and Orange Kyosho rears were the heaviest of all in terms of spring rate. I started soft, with the Tekno springs, and gradually got harder and harder, ending with the Kyosho Light Blue fronts and Orange rears.
Each practice session was between 17 and 20 minutes, giving me between 38 to 40 laps per session. The stiffer I made this car, this better my lap times were on this particular track. With this many laps, I was easily able to compare my top 5, 10, 15 and 20 average lap times as recorded by the timing system.
So, after that long winded approach to answer your questions, the setup with the springs you have shouldn't be far off.
For pistons and oils, ALL of the spring testing sessions mentioned above were performed using the stock 10 x 1.2 pistons. Oils were 500 Mugen up front and 400 Mugen in the rear. Just recently, I began testing with the Tekno 8 x 1.3 pistons, in an attempt to gain a little more pack in the rear. While I did gain more pack and the car felt "good" (even better on certain obstacles), I was faster with the stock pistons on my home track. With the 8 x 1.3 pistons in the rear and the Orange Kyosho spring, I ran 27.5wt Losi oil.

I am assuming that you are running the Light Blue Kyosho springs, front and rear (as opposed to the Blue's which are the stiffest Kyosho spring and not what I have read most EB-48.2's running.

Have some new bodies on the way from my buddy at rcfx designs. I will grab some pictures when they're mounted on the EB48/NB48's.
The hole is 6.5mm so if you can find a metric drill that's what you want. Since those are harder to find the easiest solution is a 7/64 bit which comes out to 6.74mm. That still leaves enough of a lip for the the guide to catch on so you'll be fine.
well i ran the buggy for the 4th time last night, switched back to the stock caps with vented bladder fioroni pistons 35/30 losi oils and tekno green/orange springs the car was the best its ever been so far there was a slight bucking in the rear nothing major maybe a softer spring in the rear? (not sure how to tune the buggy yet) steering got better but I am still waiting for it to turn off power it seems like i really need to get on the brakes to get it to rotate or just wait forever for it to turn in, is this normal? the rear toe is at 4.5 Im thinking thats too much for high bite clay? any ideas?

that is good to know, it seems the buggy really likes the stiffer springs in the rear, i was thinking the spring was causing the slight bucking in the rear, but i can see how the purple would help turning, are you running on clay or outdoors? your droop is way different than mine im at 104 front 119 rear maybe im not getting the weight transfer to the front also?

I have the same issue, I run 553, pink front, purple rear. 104,122 Outside hard packed and clean. Its great everywhere but 180 turns just don't want to turn unless you slow WAY down. Was thinking about trying the lower inner hole on the tower for camber link, im one up from the bottom now. Rear end seems really locked in nice, im sure adding to the steering issue.
