Those of you that upgraded your .1 to a .2 with the Avid chassis and upgrade pack did you notice a significant difference in the car? I don't mind spending the money for upgrades if they are truly an upgrade but just hate to waste money that could be spent on tires and practice.

Pressley

Most of my team mates already upgraded their rides to the 44.1 chassis for its extra nimbleness & agility on indoor clay

I can understand the need for new top decks but why a new motor mount and bulkhead? I built a version of this already and used the original mount and bulkhead.

What Chassis was Maifield using at the Cactus Classic? It is a B44.1 for sure and had a black aluminum milled chassis. Was it a Schelle?

That schelle chassis does look like a short aluminum chassis. It just doesn't seem as long as the .2. Plus look at the center bulkheads. The two screws for the rear are very close to the screw holes for the motor mount. Plus there are holes for the Velcro tabs on the edge of the chassis, something used on both the 44 and 44.1. I may be wrong, but this is just what I see in the pictures.

Looked up all the parts and cost to make my 44.2 into a 44.1, lot of money.

I am not sure it will be the way to go at my track as the local guys last season running the 44.2 sure looked good, but you never know without testing things.

Outdoors the longer chassis is fine, if your coming to Jconcept race ?
More then welcome to borrow my 44.1, think Brown has one for you as well.
Just trying to bait U.

Joe the 44.1 already has plenty of stability, not like it needed more .

Promise you either version best you ever driven in your career.
Best time to experience your wheeler is next month..

This is the first I have heard of anyone sandwiching them together on the 44.2. I know some have broken the rear tower, but besides tht they are very strong parts and very thick already.

Longer screw by the same amount that the tower is thick.
After a year plus of driving I had a crack in the rear tower (not broke) and put some CA glue on it, no problem for another dew days of racing and I replaced it just because I don't want that to cause a DNF but it is still in my box as a back up.

WC...
I remember you were saying that guys at your track were using the B5 gear diff or something in the B44 and just needed to space the bearing or something... anything come of that? Did it work out?

It would be nice to use a AE gear diff in a AE wheeler.

I searched and found a few mentions of it on here. But none about the length of screws used. There are 2 different sizes on the front tower and iirc. 3 in the rear. Was curious if someone had done it already amd knew the max length's etc.

I have cracked a couple towers front and rear. They are strong but we have a large triple with a wall on one side and posts on other. Get it wrong and its easy to smack one of those and crack a tower. Sealed the cracks with some c.a and glued them together. Would like to see how strong they can be and how long they last.

06

nobody I know had installed gears yet.

Personally, I have no experience installing one also.

Think maybe the factory is testing a gear , that's what I heard anyway.

I won't guess at a time frame, other than before 2015 1/10 worlds , but I expect a new AE 4wd is coming. My guesses as to what will be different:

AL chassis, maybe offered in 2 lengths
beefed up arms (2 cars crashing out of worlds with broken arms )
new motor mount (only because the current one sucks so bad )
gear difs with ball difs as an option
metal ring & pinion gears on the difs
maybe using a shorty pack (see the new schelle racing chassis or the team c tm4 or the hpi d418)
the geometry will probably remain the same, but the way everything goes together will be tweaked to make it simpler & easier to work on (ball studs for the camber links in particular as well as to make it easier to get to the difs)
metric hardware (assuming it is a new platform not a .3)

The big question is going to be what they call it, assuming it is a new platform. b45? b54? b55?
