No shipping is not free either way. I had a talk with Thomas on the phone. So basically same price as u buying a new diff case?

But he said then u get a chance of getting another bad one so I'm guessing there is lots of bad ones out there.

Again I know it's something little but pissed me off and he'll I've spent allot of money towards tekno.

I'm considering putting a version 1 eb48 case on until they get it sorted out and a-main gets some new versions that are known to be good. Or maybe see if I can get all the guys from the area that have broken ones to ship all of ours at once to save on shipping.

So with a new ET48 & EB48.2 on the way in a few days for the spring outdoor season I'm thinking that I should hold off on building them until I can score a new set of rear diff cases in a few weeks/months? Wow. After being very happy with the durability of my SCT-410 this is quite a disappointment. Maybe I'll just return them and get another year out of my 2.0 Losi's until Tekno can get their QC under control?

Its just some old cases they are having problems with. If you don't want the et48 send it to me! They are out of stock everywhere!!!

I love my eb48 but we have been running a metal rear brace that a local hobby shop owner's son made that bridges the top two ears of the diff case together. Also epoxying the brace to the case to add some strength. I think there is a picture by Afun on the eb48 thread of the homemade brace we are using.

I just don't want to find out that I got one of the bum diff cases in the middle of August on a race weekend. Not exactly the kind of repair I want to attempt in the field (it's a dirt/O.C.D. thing).

I understand. I hope the issue is fixed. I bet you could call and ask them if your kit has diff that was molded at the correct temperature

What about international customers? No way I'm paying $25 to send it back to them... with their coupon and return postage, I could get at least 2 new pieces shipped from tower in half the time.

I understand everyones frustration with having to ship your old broken gear box in and having to pay shipping back to you for your replacement. We do this for a couple of reasons

1. It is our warranty policy.

2. It helps us keep track of how many diff cases have been defective.

3. We can see how they are breaking.

The bottom line is that it is cheaper than buying a replacement outright if you use USPS first class mail to and from us. We are acknowledging the defect and doing our best to make it right for those that have had the issue. Please note that not everyone is having problems with the rear gear box and there is no way to tell if yours is defective or not without having it break. We have since made sure that the problem has been fixed.

We could have easily said nothing...but that is not how we work as a company, we want our customers to have the best products in the industry. We make sure if there is a problem we take care of it as soon as possible with the best possible solution for each particular issue.

We have had people take advantage of our warranty policy for TKR5016B and they have been extremely happy with the turn around time and service.

I hope you guys understand that when you call or E-mail us with a warranty issue or with questions we will give you 100% of our focus and make sure we help you to the best of our ability.

I have a almost new eb48.2 and a et48 from the first batch that due to timing must have the bad ones on it.. I'm frustrated that I know the thing is going to fail one race day and then I'm left out to hang. Imo just shipping this replacement part out to anyone that bought the vehicles in the impacted batches would be best. I don't crash as much as some so I won't most likely see my fail as quickly but it is going to happen... it's just a matter of time. The one I saw fail at motorama was from a flat landing on a triple.. didn't even land upside down!

I'm also upset Tekno has not replied or offered a replacement for my bad out drives.. these things have more wear in one race weekend than my last vehicles did in a year of driving them! Front and rear show visible signs of wear! I'm about to fire off a reminder email. I even sent pictures.. all very frustrating.

Hello,

Very odd that we didn't get back to you on the outdrive issue, Please send us another email as I did not see it in the inbox. How long ago did you send the email? Was it to [email protected]?

they responded to me by offering the warranty procedure above and they would give me half off a new set (outdrives) that I buy from them. Gotta mail it old ones.......just not worth the time and effort.

Mine are on my new ET48 with about 30minutes of use. Can see a visible cupping in the outdrives already formed (only the front and rear). On a new vehicle with so little use, I hope it's just a replacement w/ good parts.

Heads up for those holding back on shipping the part back. I just sent a part to a friend a few weeks ago and it was around $3 packaging and all.

Go to the post office, get the smallest cheapest padded envelope, send it. No need for tracking or a box and all that noise, its already broken! Your probably gonna have to order a new one anyway, so ship that one back for $3, and get a new one for $4.50 (cheapest shipping to N.E. Ohio). After all a new one is $14.

As for the international guys... Sorry.

As long as the post office is close to you and doesn't add 15minutes of time for travel and fuel expenses.. at that point you just spent more. For many it is just easier to throw on a order and have it dropped to the house w/ no effort time/gas when you drop on fees. As the other guy noted they also charge shipping back to you when they use the coupon method (not sure if this is accurate) but that really kills it at that point and then is cheaper to buy a new part. Yes 13.50 new - coupon or discount if applicable for the gearbox.
