Tekno SCT410 Thread
i usually keep steering blocks, carriers, hubs, rodends, bushings, shock rebuilds, shock shafts and maybe some arms front and rear.
Ok well what usually breaks though that its a need for spaces im guessing a extra spur gear and rod ends, Front Carriers ?
Also how is the stock setup on dirt like loose hardpacked dirt ?
I went and got spares when I first got the truck way back when and low and behold it is all still sitting in my tool box all unused and collecting dust, This thing is very bullet proof. I have yet to break anything on this truck. Besides springs and pistons and oils, you know tuning stuff you really dont need to stock a bunch of stuff. I mean keep whatever makes you feel assured, but almost a guarantee you wont use it. That is a very good thing in my eyes.

Ok thanks. Yea i dont want extra parts that i will never need anyways. Thats why i was only thinking rod ends , Spur gears really.
Kman: Yea im getting some extra springs and pistons the Yellow Rear spring and the Green Rear springs and the pistons you mentioned ? What shock oil for hardpacked loose dirt like say Motorama ?
Silvalis : Why not ? To be honest though i just want to see how the stock setup is first and how it drives.

I feel that the kit setup would be absolutely superb on tight indoor high bite. I'd try it and see what you think.
but for an outdoor/loose/rough 1/8th track (M3 snipers, blockades probably better)
Steering:
1) A lot of initial steering. Front bites quite hard both on and off power and the rear stays flat and slides. It's actually very interesting on how well the front bites without much steering input.
2) Exit grip is low, car is quite tail-ly on the throttle out of a corner. Often in conjunction with 1) the rear doesn't seem to want to regain grip.
Not sure how to fix these right now. Probably play with shocks first then think about softening the rear camber link and lengthening the camberlinks on both front and back. Probably increase rear toe too.
I played around with centre and rear brace last night. Feels a bit better with both off and lessened initial steering/increased sidebite slightly, but didn't really do much for me out of the corners.
Shocks:
1) I don't like the kit black pistons in std build. They just don't seem to be as good as the CNC (or others) and you really have to ensure you remove any flashing, otherwise they'll drag. Currently undecided on the Tekno pistons, running cnc 8x1.4 upside down. Maybe I'll try some Kyosho 8x1.3 or CSI red VPorts I have lying around... Or just chuck some K shocks on altogether.
2) My first kit came with pink front green rear. I thought it was tail-ly then. 2nd kit came with pink/yellow (harder). Rear slides more on initial turn-in. Probably harder on the front and/or softer on the rear.

went back to the track for some more practice action.
I've still only run four batteries through the truck and track (ever), so don't expect any pro driving quite yet lol. Overall I did much better this time around. One thing kept getting me though was getting square with the triple jump before leaving the ramp. I kept shooting left each time. It's at an angle from the driver's stands so it makes it hard to judge if I'm lined up or not. That might just come with learning the track? The "crash reel" is at the end of the video where you can see me miss that triple multiple times.

A few things you might want to think about. Dark shells look nice, but they can be difficult to see on some surfaces, especially when trying to line up over jumps. If you have issues lining up angled jumps relative to you, a bright straight stripe down the middle (or dark on a bright shell) helps a lot. Similarly, wheels help too. White/yellow wheels make it easier to line up your truck.
I've been racing mine almost weekly since August, and I finally broke a part. I sheared a CVD pin clean into 3 pieces. Most common break I've heard is the stub axles. Id get F/R hubs, spindles, rod ends, CVD rebuilds, shock ends. Its actually very bulletproof.
Arms, rear hubs, front steering blocks, caster blocks, hingepins. If I don't carry them, they will break my luck. lol
I have never broke a tekno rod end.
