Protoform Mazda6 GX Handling?

Hey Dave,
This was the original intent, but the more the body developed, it sort of took on a 'life of its own' and the end result has a body that we think will be more for the outdoor asphalt crowd as EA said. But again we will wait to hear feedback from our team of drivers.
Whichever slot it fits into, be assured that we plan on doing an "opposite" body in the coming months as well. (ie. if we find the new GX is dynamite outdoors, we will aim the next body at carpet, or vice versa).

Weren't you guys making simulations (digital and in an aero tunnel)?

I really like the Montech Nazda 4 for indoor carpet. It's really planted compared to the ltc-r and has better rear grip than the R9 with similar steering. I am keen on trying this though, I seem to do ok with aggressive shells.

The Nazda 4 rear wing is so far forward compared to everything else.

Not quite. Its more a case of the more we analyzed the real Mazda6 GX race car, the more we determined that its characteristics are better suited for a high-downforce type body and thats fully what we expect. No bodies have been produced yet so we don't yet have any data.

Not a lot of love for the P37 here... I personally love that body. Although I do always have all 3 bodies with me on race day just in case. I use the P37 95% of the time on carpet no matter what the traction is, and only switch to the Mazda 6 when I need something less agressive. The LTC only comes out on very rare occasions, but the P37 usually does the trick. Very underrated body in my opinion. Can't wait to see what the new GX brings!

A lot of us used to run foams until quite recently so we do like a maniac amount of steering.

If one of the biggest body producer, selling ten thousands of bodies to racers worldwide, announces the successor of the most successful touring car body of all time, I expect them to have analyzed what makes the "old" shell so good, and what were its weaknesses to improve in all areas. Therefore they must have "tools" to verify what we as drivers feel on track. As it is all about aerodynamics some strategies to know what the air does would be useful. CAD-Simulations can help as well as aeropaint. And some wind tunnel time can be bought "cheap" from universities. No need to ask McLaren for that...

I think their main tool is feedback from drivers themselves. I also think the Global Body Spec rule also puts them in a box as to what and how many changes they can make to keep the body within the GBS limits.
Whatever they do whether it be wind tunnels and computer programming or good ole fashioned hands-on molding, I am certain they know what they are doing based on their track record.
