Tekno RC EB48 Thread
Any other tips for a more stable car? I'll get a set of the Greg fronts to try. I have only ever used stock .1 springs.
eb48.2,, do you really need extra a-arms in the pit box? Are the brittle or is there an issue? Pins bend easy something that would cause problems? Just looking at swapping now almost ready to pull the trigger on one but deciding what, if anything, I want in my pit box.

The extra tough arms that come with the 48.2 don't break easily. Instead, they bend the hinge pins into unimaginable shapes, and rip out the plastic toe / kick up insterts. I started putting the 48.1 arms on the front since to me, a broken a arm is less hassle to fix.
You should have extra arms for any car. You never know what can happen.
Tekno has very a very good plastic compound. I wouldn't worry about replacing the plastic spur and I've yet to break an arm after some very hard hits.

BTW is there still a stub axle issue? Someone was telling me they are a common break? Anyone have issues?

I've had extra arms in my box for both my 8ight-e and 8ight-te for years and never once needed to use them. I have had some hinge pins bend and need a swap, but never a new arm except normal refreshes between seasons. Thanks for the tips though.. still torn on the spur gear 29 is pricey for that steel one, maybe just a spare plastic for now if one breaks then I'll order the steel.

+1 i noticed this as well. The hingpins get out of shape when the xt arms don't break. I ran the regular arms all season just for the same fact that i'd prefer they break rather than bend other things. I'll probably end up running the xt arms just cause that's what was included in my .2 kit.
I have a SCT410 with almost all of the lightening parts except for chassis. Is the sct410 to eb48 conversion something people have tried and found just as good as the original? I was considering doing it while continuing to use my 4600kv pro 4 rx8 gen 2 setup I have. Is this recommended, or should I grab a t8 to throw in there? I will be doing this in the summer to run when the outdoor tracks start opening up.
The stock spur is good but just in case you should have one I damaged mine (my fault) and still using it but remember it is very difficult to get techno parts at most hobby shops so I would be prepared. Ditto on the front shock tower inch pins front and rear arms and shock shafts.
I have also lost a wheel nut and the toe insert in the hinge pin brace, broken a lower spring keeper, lower shock eyelet. Very happy with this car but crashes happen and better to spend some $ to be prepared

I've run a lightened buggy before the losi 810, running a 2s config for 10minutes on a regular basis is not smart, you will puff packs if you push it hard. If for some reason your buggy class is running less than 10min mains 6-8 then maybe you could get away with it. I would at the very least get a lower kv motor and run 3s lipo if not just go to 4s. Your esc can handle the voltage so just snag a new motor for buggy use. I often have to race my ebuggy against nitro in 12-15min mains so I actually am at 6s w/ my setup now.. zero issues even pushing it for extended run times, can even push 20 when needed with some care.
I prefer my full weight EB48.2 but if I was to go lite weight I'd go with a T8i 2700kv on 3s.

By that I mean, if you need to be at minimum weight with everyone else and they are using tradition 1/8 buggy power, yeah, you will probably start having issues.
But, if people will let you run it light and you are cool with NOT having stump pulling torque like the other guys will have, I doubt you will experience failure as it will perform as well as the SCT410 in SCT usage without a sct body.
But you have to go in knowing that and have certain realities about what you are running.
Me personally, yeah more voltage is better, sure, but heck if 1/10 4wd buggy wasn't starting to see a resurgence with vehicles that appear durable, I could see 1/8 doing like 1/10 SCT in some manner, like a "lite" class that is limited to the same electronics.
But then again, that is just me.
