Tekin Hotwire App!!

getting the right tablet with the right Android version seems to be an issue. Most the ones I have found have are beyond the needed version. I am just going to wait for the new anroid, which is rumored to be out Jan/Feb

I would think that any newer device like the S4 or anything else that came out around that time would already be updated past 4.1. Anything that starts with 4.2 or higher won't work at this time. Be patient though, they are working on it so that the newer operating systems will work the app and we've already been told that gen1 RX8's will eventually be included.

The S4's here in the States all shipped with 4.2 or higher. So it won't work at the moment(I have this phone).
The inexpensive tablets that I've seen most often coming with 4.1 or lower have been from "IView" in both 4" and 7" versions.
So to be clear. The Android OS should be 3.1(honeycomb) to 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)

I ended up purchasing a Lenovo A1000 for about $110. 7 inch tablet. Runs 4.1.2 and has OTG capabilities. Working great and actually a pretty nice tablet for the cost. If anyone is looking for something decent, this thing is solid.
And now that I have it running, the app is pretty awesome.
Curious if it will ever be able to control the data logging features. Would be really cool to see that stuff live at track on the phone/tablet.

We need to put a sticky at the top of this thread so the same questions stopped getting repeated.
In it's current state, the Hotwire app will only support Android version 3.1 to 4.1.2
This is not a issue with the App itself, it is a issue with Android. When versions above 4.1.2 were released, USB was disabled.
When version 4.4 is released, it is " supposed " to be re-enabled.
Also, future versions of the Hotwire App will support Gen 1 ESC's, this has been confirmed by the President of Tekin in this very thread.

The Androis OS is missing some components in the OTG support stuff from 4.2 on...not sure why they pulled it but cruising developer forums we're not the only company up in arms over this.
There are some cool camera SLR controller guys out there for action sports that are pretty bummed right now about this also.
We released this as "beta" simply because of this issue and the fact that some phones may have the OTG others don't. I've even seen two different carriers of phones require different setups to run the app.
For example the S2 here in the states doesn't run OTG but the world variant does!? lol
