I've got both.

A .1 with big bores and garodisc slipper

and

A .2 with Avid chassis

and the .2 w/avid chassis is the better car by a long shot on every track i've had both of them on. So far 95% of the people I've talked to that also run the AVID chassis, agree. That last 5% seem to be people who race at TRCR.

I run mine on a low-medium bumpy clay track. Changing from the b44.1 to the avid chassis with the conversion kit is the biggest & single hop up I've ever done on any rc vehicle. The aluminum chassis is actually 53g (iirc) heavier than the stock CF chassis. The benefit is all the weight is added as low as physically possible which lowers the CG & makes the buggy MUCH more stable over bumps. The combination of longer chassis & lower CG also makes it easier to control. The Avid chassis also has a location in the front as well as in the rear to add weights to customize the handling.

As Wild Cherry pointed out, for some REALLY good drivers on really small, tight, high grip, dedicated 1/10 style tracks the shorter & lighter weight .1 chassis can be better. If you & your track don't fit that description perfectly, the avid chassis is light years ahead of the .1 chassis.

Out of the 10 or so wheelers at my track 8 are b44's of various incarnations. Of those 8, 4 have bought the avid chassis & 4 have admited they can't afford the chassis currently. All of the b44 drivers have tried the avid chassis & the opinion is UNANIMOUS that for our track the Avid chassis is superior.

I am going to either install the Avid chassis, upgrade the the longer chassis or just throw a Avid clutch on mine and call it good, what do you think Cherry? I already have big bores and hexes on my .1, but I am aiming to make it as easy and stable to drive as possible, as I am not a great driver lol. And I only race at Tacoma, occasionally 4S

So if people are running the c4.2 on my track the avid chassis will also be good?

At worlds the track was VERY high traction. Every AE team driver was driving a c4.2 & a b44.2 with the Avid chassis. What does that tell you?

If you follow any of the major event results, or any results where a FT driver is racing...they have been running NOTHING BUT the 44.2 for a long time now. And since the worlds race, i've only seen them running the AVID chassis as well. WC and his "teamates" at TRCR seem to be the only ones still running the 44.1.

The results on a national level speak volumes for the 44.2 and the AVID chassis. WC/TRCR are the exception, not the rule.

i drive at trcr, i run a 44.2. trcr is not populated with 100 georges, we are not all running the exact same setups as eachother..?. please dont make blanket statements about this track and its members. although I will say the track and its drivers are fast
I would think the pros are paid to run the 44.2 not the old car. they probably are required to.

Sponsored drivers have to run the latest and greatest, they have no choice in the matter. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.

I dunno about that. The CF chassis is plenty stiff. Where I could see the Avid Chassis really helping out is by adding a bit of weight to the car. This thing is really light. Compared to my 410, my 410 is a tank which was a huge concern for me, though I had the rear skid plate weight and the side weights which was too much. I've since removed the side weights and it is now superbly balanced and weighs less. LOL

What I see on the 44 is that people add weight all around to weight it down a bit so the tires dig more to improve traction and it works. The avid chassis will do a better job of weighing it down and it achieves it by doing it uniformly all the way around.

The 44 is already an insanely excellent car as is and I prefer a CF chassis over anything else but with today's power outputs, a car needs to carry a bit more weight so I'd weigh it down a bit all around. I think a brass Bulkheads would be a good solution for this.
