Sirio engines thread

I have an opportunity to purchase an EVO II (brand new) at a low price. I am not familiar with Sirio's .12 on-road engines. I have a .18 in my T-Maxx and like it. I have been running Nova based engines and like them but the price has me interested in this engine. How does it compare with an NSR? I hear it likes Sirio pipes but I have never seen one before. What other pipes work well?
Thanks,

Peak Torque 58 oz-in
Peak Torque at 19,600 RPM
Peak HP 1.6
Peak HP at 33,700 RPM
Max RPM 41,000
This is with 20% nitro fuel!
The pipe used was a 2 piece Novarossi 51602 with 1/2" gap between the manifold and pipe.
Difference between the Sirio Evo II and the Collari, is that the Sirio is ABC and the Collari is AAC, and it has a low center gravity cooling head. Other than that they are the same engine.

Do you like this engine?
How does it compare (performance wise) to an NSR, RB, NovaMega, etc...? I am currently running a NovaMega MS in my Serpent 710 and am happy with that. If this engine can compare with that I will buy it.
Thanks,
jag

2 Evo II, one ABC IFMAR, one AAC EFRA, and my last baby is a Mauro Collari hand modified Sirio/Collari....simply awesome.
I can tell you that they have tons of top end, a bit short of low end for tight tracks, but it's a question of gearing and tuning the with the right pipe.
Compared to Novarossi NSR3, Novamega MS, Mugen X12, RB...it's as fast or even faster, specially in wide open tracks.
I've won two of three last races at my track against those engines, and last race with 1 hour main i was winning by two laps up to minute 42 when my front belt in my MTX3 Prospec broke.

That sounds good to me. I run mostly on smallish tracks (150' x 75') but I do plan to run on a few larger ones soon.
As far as a pipe goes, I have an RB V series and an RD Logics Turbo II. Are either of those any good for that engine? If not what would be your choice?
Thanks,

What temp does the engine like?

Hey afm just got my evo 2 today! i had a look at the crankcase where you put the carby in and only notice one o ring seal... but evo 2's suppose to have 2 o ring seals right? how do i identify if the engine is evo 2 apart from the blue head which says evo 2 on it.
and as im getting ready to break the engine in, in a few days, my carb settings from factory are all flush high speed, mid speed, and low speed. will this start up easy? i hate fiddling, trying to get the engine to idle while breakin in the engine.
thanks in advance AFM

Appart from big blue head, you would have to measure timing degrees on the engine, but that is a rather complicated procedure, unless you have your timing tools. But why would you doubt it isn't.
For break-in procedure, go to Sirio's new web site, they have some cool videos on all tuning procedures and break-in steps.

thanks afm.
I just have the slightest doubt as the manual in the box shows diagrams of the TSP/R model not the EVO 2. i won the engine off ebay at a good price as well. cant wait to use it at the first club meet!
thanks for ya time and input once again AFM.
will also look at sirio's site for break in procedures and vids.
merry christmas all

ran in my new sirio yesterday and it was a breeze!!! although the piston did get stuck at TDC a few times haha but yea wasnt as painful as i would have thought just remember to fully charge your starter box battery first!
also this engine has lots of power and potential after 7th tank i started to lean it out and it flies! and its only running at 230-40 F so im very happy.
