Ive heard horror stories abt my esc of choice Tekin. Hearing it needs extra padding etc.... Ive been told by some highly experienced racers to
'buy cheap' Can someone suggests an affordable brushless esc that can be used for stock STC to mod 2wd buggy racing? Thx ahead of time!!

Most of us ask much of an ESC, and given time no matter how well it is made you will either roast it or beat it to death. To me the horror stories come from bad costumer service when things do go wrong.

When people used to say, "buy cheap" for an ESC, they generally meant the HobbyWing stuff. It offered good value from the company who is the OEM mfg for many others. These days, a HW 3.1 costs almost as much as an Orion R10.

If you're running mod 2w buggy, you need, and I can't emphasis this enough, the smoothest ESC you can get and those don't come cheap. I can't remember the last time I've personally saw anything other than an R10 or LRP Flow in a mod buggy Amain by me. You'll be happier in the long run buying a used R10 (my personal favorite ESC) for what you want to race than something "cheap" new.

I have a HW Just Stock speedo in my 17.5 SC, it's as fast or faster than anything else on the track. For $50 you can't beat it.

For Mod, like the guy above just said, you'll want to spend some decent money to get a speedo that can handle the power, smoothly, of a mod motor. Also, both my son and I have a Tekin RS, neither of us have had any problems with it for going on a year now.

Tekin's live if you monitor the temp on them...they have a handly little LED that tells you exactly what the temp is. I run a RS gen2 in my 17.5 ST. I run a Novak GTB2 in my 17.5 buggy. My truck is obviously faster.

The Speed Passion Pro is a great ESC for the price and super smooth
