If you had a failure I'd also like to know this info:

There is nothing to clear. It doesn't save any data. I try to clear it before I run it and it still has no data after I bring it back in.

It's not a powering the Hotwire issue, it's a connection into the fan port issue. If you gently wiggle the Hotwire adapter at the fan port you can see the rx8 LEDs turn on and off.

Ok, so you may simply have a bad hotwire adapter. Have you tried connecting via the servo lead instead? If you can comm there we can eliminate a few things right off the bat.

Default full throttle

does the throttle graph in the data logger show how high your throttle is going, if so mine keeps stopping at like 86% or so, I have re-calibrated several times with everything set back to 100 and 0 %, will the nutrel width effect this as I am running around 50 like the rx8 setting but I saw that gen 2 was in the 20's

Tried all 4 of my Hotwire adapters and a buddies. When the fan is plugged in it also cuts in and out if you gently wiggle it.

I have not tried plugging the servo lead into the Hotwire since it is such a tight fit into the rx.

The short answer is that it does not matter because we calibrate to the end points and neutral so they are correct and you get full throttle and brake.

The technical answer is because the standard signal pulse width for RC systems is 1.0ms full brake, 1.5ms for neutral, 2.0ms for full throttle. Our scale is based on these numbers 100/-100. Some radios are 50/50 and some radios are 70/30 and move the neutral down to 1.3ms to give you more resolution on the throttle side.

With your EPA set at 100% the radio appears to be giving us around 1.9ms for full trigger. If you increase the EPA you can get it to 100 or even higher. At max EPA most radios are above 2.0ms. In any case we will flash all the leds and give full throttle/brake if we are calibrated to the radio output.

Sidenote... some radios will drift as batteries get low or due to sitting in hot sun. You can radio calibrate and then turn the radio EPA up 5 or 10 to make sure you always get to full throttle.

If you're fan is cutting in/out something is wrong. Note that the fan is defaulted to only turn on when the temp requires it.

So to test this, unplug the Rx8 from the receiver, this will cause the fan to run all the time, now test the port. Result?

I have some burnt up tekin rx8 gen 1s and on the form to send them in I saw something about upgrade costs. Is it possible to pay a little over the normal replacement cost to upgrade to the new gen 2 rx8?

You will be charged the "non warranty" replacement cost for the Rx8 Gen2 swap.

I changed the setting for the fan to always run once it started cutting in and out. Forgot to mention that. Still cuts in and out when wiggled or even when truck is shaken hard

Very interesting. Wondered why neutral wasn't zero on mine but it never really mattered since you can see full throttle even if its not 100.
