Is anyone using the "Losi Center Diff 45T Spur Gear 8E LOSA3552" in their 2.0 ?
I have recently stripped 2 plastic spur gears in a very short time at my track.
The 8E LOSA3552 metal spur seems to fit fine bit the 4 screw holes seem to be smaller than usual and won't allow for standard flat screws to tighten down fully.
I have ordered the Hot Racing 45t steel spur but want to know if the 8e losa 3552 steel spur can work too?

Thanks

I've ran the metal spur for years. Same with the front and rear diffs, the countersinks do not allow the screws to sit flush. It's normal and isn't a problem as long as its not leaking.

Thanks for the quick reply pimpedaccord, i though it should work. I used some button head screws to seal the gaps and no leakage after about 20 min of lap practice today and everything seemed fine.

I have been using the 44t plastic spur for a few months now with no problems. Make sure your gear mesh is right.

Gear mesh and be sure the chassis is not worn down and with to much flex. Braces tight? I have melted a couple of gears running truggy motors and went to the metal gear. Its all I run now with 45t spur.

Ive never had a problem with plastic spurs.. most of the time people see diffs leaking as there is some fluid slung out on the chassis or other places. If you overfilled it and some seeped out the side, that will sling all over. Make sure your not overfilling it to, that can be a culprit.

6 or so years of running E buggy and ive been through a whopping 1 spur gear, And that was when the motor came loose off the mount.

IMO there is NOTHING wrong with the plastic spurs what so ever, Metal is Significantly louder and Will eat pinion's over time VS the plastic which can go 100's of packs without any worry.

Yea, i had one strip, i cased a jump pretty hard but that was my fault. The reasons i see people strip plastic spurs on the track is loose motor bolts, using the little motor brace underneath, bad diff bearings or gear mesh, most of the time it's gear mesh.

I stripped a few myself, but that was only because of the motor mount coming loose. It flexed just enough to where a hard crash killed the spur. I didn't use enough loctite on the threads. I ended up using a combination of Teflon tape and loctite. Once I solved that issue, no more stripped spurs.

Any 1/8 scale motor should work. I have used a few different motor without any issues with the shaft being too short.

Mmm that's what I want to buy... Anyone using that motor with a hobbywing 150a esc?

I'm running an RX8 Gen2 and T8 2000kv truggy motor in my SC8.2e. Don't really want to shell out for a second RX8 when the Hobbywing is good enough.
