They are ok, it's been a long time since I ran the stock or tapered Serpent pistons so I can't compare. I'm running CSI blacks in my gas car. For now the CSI serpent pistons are discontinued so they will get harder to find. Though I think you can drill out some of the other brands center hole so they might work still.

The theory behind them makes sense, i just havent actually ordered some yet. I have a bunch of serpent pistons laying around already so ill probably use those. if you and david want some just ask, never hurts to try.

Ya, one of Chicky's setups has the blue CSI's in the rear, but upside down... I imagine it was to lessen pack in the rear from moving the shocks all the way out on the bottom. I am thinking there is a better solution than running CSI pistons the wrong way. It might have been a quick fix also.

i know he likes them up front with various other pistons in the rear which seems like it would be unbalanced. then again he runs a lot of weird piston setups so who knows.

I think he is still running the blue CSI in the front, standard orientation, but with 800 cst PT shock oil (AE 60 wt is 800 cst). In the rear, he's been running a 1.3 tapered piston, 8 hole, with 4 holes drilled to 1.4.

I just got some Fiorini ergal dual action pistons to try out. Had them on backorder from Amain, and they just came available last week and I got them today. I think they're backordered again already, lol. Drilled the center hole out from 2.5mm to 3mm and I'm going to play with them at the Nats this week.

I think my diff oils are 10 10 and 7. Saturday I know there was one jump guys were having trouble with and I didn't, not once. It drives more like a big 10th scale buggy rather than a 8th scale.

Yep bad driving, my track is pretty big and rough and has some larger jumps, but still i though the Serpent would have been stronger, the damage wasn't from huge air landings, but more from miss landings on table top jumps and hitting the front end on the jump mound, my Losi seems to be much more durable when same thing happens. Oh well, new parts already arrive and will be fixed today and still love the Serpent.

On the front carbon tower, round the edges off then glue. It helps keep the tower from digging in to the dirt. Sharp edges will want to dig in and round edges will tend to slide more if you land upside down. The rear one is protected by the wing for the most part.

Whats a good setup for outdoor hard packed with alittle dust, I have a 1.0 573 with CSI black pistons all the way around. I got it that way. Main question is what losi shock oil? I have 40R 30R now seems nice really plush. Maybe alittle soft.

Thanks

@pete
Did you get the stock black pistons that came with the kit? If so, try 1.4 front/42.5, 1.3 rear/30 wt.

Hi, has anyone converted a buggy into a short course? Was thinking on converting one. Figured the body post from the gt might work but haven't figured out the rest.
So, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm working on a 1/8th scale short course truck now. I'll be using an SC8 body, also I took the buggy front and rear clips and bolted them on my serpent Truggy chassis. Check out t bone racing:

I still have to get the rear bumper mounted up and figure out body mounts. I think the Losi scte body mounts will work well.

I am interested in this. Only issue would be the 811 is 9mm too wide. I think someone used tekno sct arms to achieve this.
