There's a sensor inside the motor pcb.

Which motor is it?

You are correct.

After a 10+ minute run we like to see motor temps no higher then 180 degrees.

Temp the motor on the can and on the end with a temp gun. See which is higher and that's your temp.

These Gen 1 RX8 setups are a great starting place for the Gen 2.

How about esc? I see in the rx8 manual it says if all 7 LEDs (220 deg) are blinking then stop and let it cool down. does that mean anything under 200 is okay? And what should i do if the esc is running a bit hot but the motor isn't? turn down the current limiter?

If the ESC is running anywhere over 190 degrees there more times then not is something wrong with the gearing, over timed/wrong kv motor vs battery voltage or something mechanically wrong within the vehicle drivetrain.

We do find that the whole electrical system runs better when the current limiter is between 60-80. It will also make the vehicle easier to drive.

CL helps for both temps and unwanted wheel spin, from my experience it's much more efficient than the punch control from castle who gives a strange "loose" feel to it. When adjusting the CL I didn't experience that lack of power in the power band. The response remains the same and you feel connected to the car whatever value you use. With castle I always ended with having no punch control because there was something lacking in the motor response, especially in low rpms

is there a point in which if you go to far down on your CL will it cause more heat in the motor

Got my Gen 2 today. Quick question I want to setup my CL but want to make sure I'm doing it right so my question is what percent does each light equal. Esc looks great didn't get to run it at the track we got rained out. From what I can tell my truck does seem faster on top and comes out of the hole really fast. Quick tip when putting the fan on take some shoe goo and put it on the wires where they come out of the motor makes it alot easier to get the fan in and the heat sink won't mess up the wires.
