Really? Side by side packs = more wiring and are generally more unbalanced than a single 4s pack. Huge spur gear and esc tray raise center of gravity. Not to mention the pinion sits about 1cm away from your battery. The rango looks good, but i'm not getting how it's better in every way compared to the tekno.

I've owned three dex408 buggies and I've tried just about every setup out for them and my Tekno with an almost box stock setup was still faster than my old durangos. The Tekno platform is a very well thought out and fast vehicle. I'm not knocking Durango at all just stating my own personal experience.

I don't want to be negative or get the thread off topic (I am looking forward to E-truggy) but it is an issue I have and have seen other drivers have at my local track. The very thin lower dove-tails of the front diff carrier bend allowing a lot of play between the motor mount and diff carrier. After a few months it becomes nearly impossible to get a good gear alignment. I use a 1900 with 18 tooth pinion.
Anyway just trying I help teckno out before they put a weak motor mount in a Truggy... It will not last.
As for the Durango vs Tekno argument. No one that has driven both would argue lol. I have converted a Durango driver over to Tekno with just one test drive.

Side by side packs means I can actually use 2x3S packs instead of being forced to use 1x4S like I would on a Tekno. Plus I won't have to worry about chassis balance when doing those 15 meter jumps. I really like the ESC tray mount because it will mean easy wiring and smaller chance of damage from rocks/debris. Plus easy access diffs, dust boots on all 4 axles and helical gears for added reliability.
Sure they will both be great but if I do go eTruggy for next season you can bet that I'll be running the ET48.

Well it's true.
Truggy motor 400 gram, other side servo and RX maybe 100 gram.
balance??? none what so ever.
Tekno can easely be build within 50 gram difference.
Not bashing Durango at all, just looking at the facts.

For now though, I'll stick to Turnigy batteries from Hobby King. $15 shipping and no taxes.

Not a novice, nor a pro, but I bent mine on my EB48 shortly after I got it (first batch, but I don't believe it has changed comparing the ones I have). Just the lip of it though, so it still meshes fine, it is just harder to adjust it in small amounts.
It did take a big hit to do it though. I was going down the straight at full speed when a SC8 pulled out sideways in front of me. The only things it did for damage were the motor mount lip bend, and it popped a steering ball joint down onto the base of the ball off of the ball on the wheel side that hit. I just popped it back into place and kept going, it still has the same stuff on it today, winning races.

1350 tekin and 6s on mine right now, about 1-1.2 seconds off of ebuggy. But then again, I'm not a "racer" so I wouldn't know

15 meters is quite large, but you do realize there are great temperature, power, and motor benefits of running 6s on a large vehicle, racing, right?

When using a low Kv motor and 6s, yes temps can be greatly reduced, runtime extended, and overall torque can be increased. However, i can see it being a negative if allowed to happen at tracks. People will complain someone has an unfair advantage (which they don't), others will whine about how it tears up the track, and others will say it causes more "danger" to marshalls. These problems can be cured by educating the common racers about what 6s really does. But even when everything has been explained, you will always get some yahoo that sees this 6s rule, and takes advatage of it. For example some joe blow noob guy thinks it's ok to run his castle 2200 setup on 6s. Think people won't do this? Just look at a few outdoor tracks and you will see some guys running 2650Kv setups on 4s in their e-buggies. What's to stop them from doing the equivalent on 6s? Better yet, let's say this noob hasn't the slightest amount of throttle control and ends up putting marhshalls into dangerous situations with his overpowered 12 pound truck. This is where 6s becomes a problem.
Or perhaps we should all go back to low powered brushed motors...
Back to the topic at hand.
