Used FT B4.1 roller with some cheaper hobbywing electronics would be way better then the RTR.

I can't figure out what Associated was thinking with the new 4.2 RTR. It has the short chassis and small bore shocks -- so it is missing the two defining features of a current competitive buggy that also would make it much easier to drive and maintain for a beginner. I can understand skipping the shocks for cost reasons but the chassis, not so much.
Good catch.

Didn't notice he referenced the 4.2 RTR in which case it's still the way to go over the 4.1 RTR.

What a joke the 4.2 RTR is. It is not a 4.2. I don't get it????

Outside of the Shocks and Alloy Front Bulkhead and Rear Hub Carriers, it is a 4.2 though I think they should up the price to $350 and include the BB Shocks. it will still perform well but just lacks some of the fine tuning ability in terms of suspension.

it does not have the +8 chassis. you can glue the rack, so who cares about that. vts? meh, not really very good anyway. BB shocks? they are nice, but the +8 is better. If you upgrade to the +8, you need the chassis, the battery strap and a new body. Its just so much of a hassle. But AE wanted to standardize on the hex wheels I guess. So that if you ever get a b4.2 ft, you can reuse your wheels at least. Which can be a big cost saver.

Hm. I thought the 4.2rtr had the +8 chassis and front and rear hexes (in plastic). What the what AE?

In JetBlast's case then, I would go with the 4.1 rtr since he just wants to try it out. Much cheaper to try out the class that way.

Yes, I know. I didn't even look at the specs till after it was mentioned that it was still the short chassis. It's shameful that AE didn't update the RTR with the longer chassis.

How do you justify the cost increase? The cost of the FT kit did not increase like that when it was released

I think it would be nice if AE would make a full FT into a kit and increase the price. That way new drivers and inexperienced drivers could learn with a better car.

I hate to say it but the Durango RTR is quite a bit better than the Associated. At least they put half way decent electronics in it. They've got a sensored motor for crying out loud. RTR should encourage people to stay in the hobby. Crappy/frustrating/pathetic electronics won't do that. They don't need to be world class but they need to be serviceable.
