40c? nah, most are running at least 50-70c and 4000-4300 mah. I ran my 17.5 for 30 minutes until it hit lvc. I know a lot of guys that can finish a 10 minute main with 3800 mah packs. for 17.5 more C, for mod, 25c is fine. Shorties are mainly used in 17.5 to make the car lighter for stock. In mod, most run full packs to calm down the power.
Yeah it is in stock class but those thing like to pull some amps! 100C pack!

Finishing up my build.
Do you guys feel the rear ballast weight is needed..if I am running high grip carpet?
Traction won't be an issue...but if the weight is needed to balance the car I will toss it in (at that point in the build).
I will be running full size packs.
Thanks in advance.

I feel the ballast weight merely balances the car out perfectly. If you run your speedo in front of the shock tower you might want to consider adding a small amount of weight up front to balance it out, but it all depends on how hefty the ESC is. I prefer my ESC's on the left side right next to the battery (running wires between the ESC and raised section), receivers all the way out to the right with the ballast weight and I run Venom shorties with a single foam up front.
Regardless of type of track, what you are looking for is balance. Get that right and your car will handle on any surface just the same, with minor adjustments here and there to get it really dialed in.

rcman,
Depends on the spur you're running, which depends on the track you're driving on. I've found an 81 spur with a 25 pinion works well for most applications. If I need more low end bite I go up a tooth or 2 on my pinion, more high end, go down 1 or 2 teeth on my pinion.

lol. And I am a southerner living up here. My accent comes out once in awhile too but the German / Norwegian cross accents that have a tinge of Canadian flare to them are sure funny at times.
Looks like today I will be getting in the offset lunsford turnbuckles.
I did RPM ones on the others I have, as they were superduties I drilled out the RPMs, didn't have an exact drill bit 33 but found an odd ball metric bit (I think 2.9 or whatever) that worked well. Lots of bite between the turnbuckle and ball end but can actually still turn them. They fit fine on the ball studs, no binding for me.
Now got a variety of the AE blues I don't need lol.

So, hot days indoor clay track just doesn't stay wet. My buggy had been great until last two times out. It was really hot, track was really dry and even sweeping in between rounds the track still had a good amount of dust. I have to be missing something. My have been very happy with this buggy but now I want to throw it on the roof.
What changes are you guys making in these dry dusty conditions?

Would suggest
use the B4 plastic rear arm
green spring
assuming your running a 17.5
so use a 1/4 oz on the front by each side of servo
adjust slipper so the front end goes up less then a inch
threaded tires
don't grip the front tires
ride height 24m
