Official Tekin RX8 GEN2 ESC Thread

They're fairly long soldering posts. Make sure when you wire your electronics up that you leave plenty of flex space for the wires to absorb impacts and such, rather than forcing the posts to take all the energy of motion.

+1 and don't stay more than 4/5 seconds or so on the posts when soldering. Flux helps a lot. Posts are the weak spot on this speedo so it needs all the care you can think of. Another thing is not to push too harsh on the posts when you solder your wire, just let the heat melt the solder by contact. I might sound like a paranoid but generally you only solder your ESC once so rather do it well

One of the guys at the track turned his rx8 into a bonfire last week. It was quite impressive with a foot tall flame burning through his body. Nothing else seemed to be damaged (he pulled another rx8 out of another vehicle & ran the same motor, receiver & lipo with no problems). After the drama was over, to conversation turned to tekins wonderful customer service & whether or not he would get a gen 2 back or a gen 1.
So, if he sends it in, maybe under warranty, maybe not, I don't recall how long it had been since he bought it, will he get a gen 2 or a gen 1 as a replacement?

My friend had his RX8 in for service starting a few months ago and just recently got it back. It was a black case with black heatsink... not sure what to make of it lol. Gen2 inside a black case? Gen1 with black heatsink?? Maybe i'll see if he'll let me hook it up to my hotwire.
wouldn't be surprised it has the benefits of whatever they have done (assuming something was done) to up the durability, but still be a Gen1.
