It's similar to what happens when you "pop" the clutch in a manual car, you are able to increase the RPM of the motor without engaging the spur gear, then when the centrifugal forces kick in, you have immediate torque.

On the flip side without this clutch system, even with adjusting throttle curve, you still have to start at 0 RPM and work your way up, you can never start at 10,000 or 40,000 and go up. So with that being said your torque is increasing gradually relative to the throttle.

With clutch, you are also able to get the motor spinning much easier from dead stop and then engage the spur gear when it reaches 5,000-10,000 rpm.

I'm struggling to find some Front and Rear replacement shock shafts in Australia.
Has anyone converted over to the newer shock internals?

I am assuming they are metric vs imperial.

Front Shock Shaft - TLR243007
Rear Shock Shaft - TLR243008

Lets back up a little bit..

What RC models are readably available in the AU

the shock shafts losi and tlr have always been 4mm and are threaded based on metric. Now the new X and x elite versions meh, still metic just not as good quality machining imo.

Now, there is some cross compatibility since the kit 3.0 shocks are domed essentially and have clearance for a nut and washer style shock shafts, be aware that some manufactures use reverse thread on their shafts and will need new ends or use their shock shafts and ends, and may have longer than normal top shaft which may need to be shaved down. this is of course if haven’t changed the overall shock length already.

Me: I already took up as much of the shock bodies travel I could, so I can’t or shouldn’t use nutted shafts.

Agama buggy short shock ends work with losi balls and agama cups work losi evo springs as well as their shafts work with the losi shocks they just measure them by stoke versus overall length of the shafted part.

There are many 4mm shock shaft options a available through all manufacturers and most will work with all the proper length measurements and associating hardware.

The only thing that is just TLR or Losi is the shock pistons. So as long as you have losi or tlr pistons you have options. Well the shock bottoms to.., however thats universally fit for 4mm shafts.

Cheers Juglenaut,

There are many RC cars available in the AU. I just assumed that the thread on the ends of these shock shafts were not metric, as the part numbers for most of the shocks components changed in the XE kits.
I will look for some similar length 4mm shafts!
