Blacked out the wheel spokes with a Sharpie...

Then pulled the total noob moves by trusting the premarked body mount locations... TWICE! Then tried my own spots, and failed a third time. AAARRRGGHHH!! Oh well, this body will get trashed in my learning curve anyway. Good experience in painting, just hated to mess it all up turning it into swiss cheese.

So a friend of mine joined me for an afternoon of just open practice at E Squared Raceway in Indianapolis (Its a new indoor clay track).

When I pulled in the parking lot, this white beauty was waiting there! The owner said he restores cars and has a 69 Camaro he is also restoring! This one, he just bought from the original owner in Danville, Indiana. All original, all paperwork. Man, I was droolin'. It was really nice. He's just getting into RC he said.

I told him about the VTA class. You should have seen his eyes light up! Might have a new on-road racer in the making! He's running stock Slash right now.

cool. A plain jane camaro. It is nice to see a classic car that hasn't been resto-modded.

I thought so too. He said he's going to keep it "just like it is" which I thought was cool.

Seeing that real one made me want to get a new HPI 68 Camaro body and paint it white. Just white with numbers. Simple. Classy. But still a Camaro!

Thanks
Yep on the driver just stickered the helmet a bit. Have it on its own body mounts so driver stays when body(s) come off

The rear section and the spoiler are separate pieces.

I've been working on this body for myself for the last couple of weeks when I had time. Ya, I like ORANGE... a lot!

Its the "Genesee Beer Wagon" which ran in T/A, but the real one was actually a '69. I will paint a true to scale '69 eventually, but for me, the 68 bodies seem to hold up a little better.

Its just going to be a shelf queen for a while until I beat the CR*P out of my current body some more.

Metallic orange Faskolor paint with faux orange carbon fiber on the hood. I know that the carbon fiber hood is not period correct, but it does look cool. Additional sponsor decals will be added to make it more vintage looking, but it is all paint now. I cut the numbers from the inside using Fasmask. I taped reverse images on the outside and cut carefully. Don't have to worry about them peeling off now.
