Started building a brand Factory Team Edition tonight...

This kit has the new improved gear cases with steel bushings and the new .5 shim ....

With
Tip's for building the diff's

* Do not use the .2 shim that is used on the out drive shaft .
If you try to use this shim ?
Will be almost impossible to slide the sun gear pin onto the out drive shaft inside the gear case .

* do not fill the case completely with oil, only 1/2 to 2/3 full ..
Allows for the oil to expand and not leak inside the gear box

* Do not torque the gear case screws to tight , only firm & keep it even to avoid warping the gear case ...

* use a hand drill to break in the diff's before installation...
I thought the diff shims were thicker when I built my FT. I couldn't use the outside washers either. The truck your building came with a quad slipper?

no the quad slipper is something you have to get yourself. pick up an extra steel disk (91178) and an extra set of slipper pads (91177)
-note the steel disk does have machine oil on it so youll want to motor spray an wipe it clean.

So far I'm happy with the 3 disk setup or 2 disk with the exotek locker. I tend to run my slipper on the tight side anyway. Dang a quad disk, what will they think of next a hex disk.

Over in the b44.2 thread a guy named UN4racing is doing the 5pad vts! Also used 6 he said but not needed and alot of modding. He runs a 5.5 motor. I have the 4 pad too and it is better than the 3 pad for sure.

He must have doubled up on the baskets, one on each side?

So whats the big knock with this truck and outdoor tracks? I been looking to get a 4x4 sc and I would like to stick with AE since that's all I own now. From some research it seems to excel indoors but outdoors is not so good? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I pretty much set the slipper to where it only slips in pretty extreme circumstances because when I come around a corner with 5 feet run to clear a triple and with any slipper slip I'm not going to make the jump. So am I missing something? 4 and 5 disks seems like a novelty at this point. I only use it to save the drivetrain.

The slipper is a very usefull tool. Something I've only really learned recently. A cranked down slipper will send more power to the wheels but then your fighting wheel spin. A properly set slipper will almost eliminate wheel spin but yet allow maximum forward power, with the addition of a better slipper system you have a finner adjustment equaling a better felling an more consistant car. At least that's what I feel.

The VTS slipper is a Sc 4x4 racers best friend ....

Many take for granted , winners do not .....

Believe the VTS is one of the bigger advantages the truck has , no messing with oil , pins ect ....

Just a simple adjustment of the nut makes tuning all the easier .

I set my 3 pad VTS with about 4 to 5mm of thread showing

quad pad = 1mm of thread showing

VTS - still not as good at "the original" Mac the Knife basket.

Went and practiced tonight, the eight scale springs are bomb. There was a triple followed by a tabletop in the front stretch - fourty five or fifty feet. With the Hobbywing 4000kw four pole, jumping the whole thing if I got the line right out of the previous corner, no problem.

Even if you cased it or landed flat, no problem. They are a giant improvement if you need to land big jumps. Still have the 13mm stock shocks.

After running for 15 minutes, the motor was like 95 degrees. Think I need to gear that one up.

Craig, what springs did you try? Thanks.
