I suggest you get those tires and just have fun racing.

The pilot run is not even off the ground because we only have a handful of pm's from racers that are committed for prepayment. Most want to see the product first and others will buy only if they see others using it....

If the pilot lives, we still need to purchase several 4PL radios for prototyping and testing. The prototype can take up to two weeks to get milled after CADCAM is done, then a few more weeks for production.

So if your outdoor racing begins in a few weeks, this won't happen by then.

Bump, this thread and project needs more support than ever! If you have the slightest amount of support for this project, POST NOW!! I've been told a very close deadline, therefore a lot more commitments are needed to get this off the ground.

We have more people question why we don't inject in plastic instead of expensive cnc machining it. Well you can.

It will cost you as low as $0.06 for each 4PL drop down plastic injected.

You can have a mold made up (@$15,000) which the cost will need to be divided up among the customers. For example, 12 customers, each drop down will cost $1,250.00 each. As you inject more drop downs, your investment in the mold comes down to the point where you can start to break even.

Also keep in mind you can not inject one at a time as needed because you will incur set up and injection costs. Most injection companies requires a minimum run before a job will happen, some as little as 1000 units and other 10,000 units. The lower the units, the higher the cost per unit.

Unless the product has high volumes which the drop down certainly are not, a mold will cost more.

Sorry for saying I would be interested in buying 2 drop downs for the 4pl but I have since changed my mind due to recent issue's with 2 of our 3 4pl's. We had 1 break a spring and another 4pl have the steering board have issue's and had to be sent back. Do to this I dont feel it to be a good idea for me to spend any more money on the 4pl's at this time. Thanks very much for staying in touch and putting forth the effort my friend. Hopefully it works out for you and others.

We received an interesting feedback from a 4PL owner that our drop down cost twice as much as a set of touring car tires.

I had to politely answer back that his $40 tires will probably wear out after a few races and the 4PL drop down will last a lifetime and will increase the resale value of the radio.

Lack of a dropdown option is the only thing holding me back from buying a 4PL. Every radio that I've run since the mid 90's has had either a split design (Airtronics) or a dropdown option. A regular transmitter just feels bunched up and awkward to me. I like to have some distance between my hands.

The MT4 drop down spaces the wheel out 3/4" (20mm) so your hand won't be bunched up. The 4PL drop down if made, will be the same.

The other thing you may dislike about the 4PL, is that the trigger is about 10 to 15 degs tilted off the centerline. On the 4PKS you can angle the wheel centerline to the trigger because it is multi-angled.

With the GRID 4PL drop down, you can drop the wheel and angle it to the correct centerline.
