Blows my mind. What really blows my mind is why anyone would run an ESC that big

It is not that big, lol. I have seen MMP's in the b4, plus if you also run sc 4x4, it is a good esc. I like the vipers, but if I got a sc4x4, I would get the orion esc, plenty strong and I can use in my buggy if i sell the truck. Also, that esc is big, but weights the same as the vtx10. Mostly because the vtx10 is all alum chassis. It is small but heavy. Now the new reventon looks MASSIVE, lol.

Nah, the Orion is big. Now the hobby wing v3 is small...

Edit:
I got curious & looked it up.
Hobbywing v3 37.5x37x29.5 93g 7170mm area
Speedpassion reventon pro 35x35x20 no weight listed 5250mm area
Orion r10 pro 41.5x30.5x20.2 44g 5440.3mm area

I believe the hobbywing dimensions include a fan. Assuming it does, & assuming 9mm for the fan, the dimensions become:
37.5x37x20.5 5829mm area
Still the largest, but much more comparable

For comparison the tekin rs pro is
33x25.4x15.25 65.2g 3457.6mm area
Reventon r
33x33x19 4686mm area

Umm Kay well pretty much all of factory Kyosho and tlr run the Orion r10s plus some real fast AE drivers. I have 3 broken lrps at my house. Now that the v3 board is out I will be running lrps again but I just bought a m12 otherwise I would have picked up a flow today. Man it's a good thing I didn't post the picture of my whole car. There'd be all sorts of questions. Kinda why I didn't show any more then I had to. I wasn't even going to post that picture but I comically posted earlier about it.

I was a bit confused as you may have been able to sense. Then I looked at the signature. Tekin, well I'm sorry but tekins are not smooth enough for a mod motor imo especially a 7.5.

Perhaps you quoted the wrong person? I don't run tekin, I run orion

I mounted my esc capacitor in the rear foam pad behind my battery. I took it out of the plastic case and cut a area out of my foam pad and glued it to the pad. the orion capacitors are huge, i literally moved my esc back almost an inch.
I have the R10 as well and was thinking of swapping out the bulky capacitor with the slimmer and smaller LRP Works Team capacitor bank. Might be able to place on the side of the ESC. It should work with no issues, but I did not study electrical engineering. Thoughts??

The orion is a hobbywing esc. And hobbywings are pretty smooth. I don't really have anything against HW. But I really like most everything about the vipers. I always liked LRP, but meh, they are behind the times. Some would argue you don't need all the nice things in the new esc's, but I severely dislike counting blinking lights and lugging a PC everywhere. I was really hoping the flow would come with a program box, oh well.

I have been running a tekin rs pro in my b4, but it got moved to the b44. I should be getting a speed passion reventon r to go into my b4 any day now. Everyone has told me how not smooth the tekin is & how smooth the speed passion is, so I'm giving it a try. What I have found is the tekin is very smooth until you add boost, then it's like a light switch. Between putting the rs pro in the b44 & getting the reventon in I have been borrowing my sons mmp. I HATE IT! I'm getting less punch (I can't wheelie down the front straight & have a harder time clearing a double right after a hairpin), it's not as smooth, I get less run time, the sensor forgets where it is every now & then, & I had to put a glitch buster in.
