I lookking for a mt4 because of the drop down gridrc offers now and i like the larger grip that comes with it also. Dont understand why there has not been any upgrades for the 4pl. I see more of the 4pl then the mt4. You would think companies would be all over making upgrades for comfort for radios. If i could find a drop down and a NICE looking grip ill keep my 4pl.

This +1000

The 4PL from what I've seen is way more popular than the MT4.

I did briefly consider the MT4 after seeing Grid-rc's new drop-down wheel (on the hunt for a radio at the moment), but have no need for gimmicky telemetry and I want a backlit display (which the MT4 doesn't offer as standard).

BTW not bashing the MT4 (I have a Sanwa M11X), but I would think a 4PL drop down would sell like hot cakes (if priced like the other Grid RC offerings)

Yeah my boy wants one of these too! He really likes the feel of my 4PKSR with the drop down.

yeah, I was considering it and then after seeing the one for the MT4, I definitely want one now. Nothing to consider. In fact, I won't lie, if they don't end up doing one, I'll likely dump my 4PL for the MT4 just because I like the drop down better

I'm in the same boat as your buddy. Feeling the 4pks-r's dropdown was what made me want one.

It is good to see interest here from 4PL owners.

Once we get the MT4 owners up and running, and if the interest continues for 4PL owners, we may make a drop down for the 4PL a reality as well.

I just can't imagine that the MT4 has a larger following than the Futaba 4PL does. We have one MT4 used at out track compared to easily 15 to 20 4PL's that are at our track. I would just think that the 4PL for the money is one of the best mid priced radios by far.

There are more dealers selling Futaba than Sanwa for sure, thus the larger group of 4PL owners.

The difference is the demand for a drop down came from the MT4 owners first. We have talked to 4PL owners a year ago and they felt it was not needed or else they would have bought the 4PKS that supported a drop down.

As for the MT4 owners, the M12 was not out at the time and the M11X was considered very heavy.

The deciding factor for us to produce a drop down for the 4PL is if it can actually sell. One of the problems with the MT4 drop down project a year ago was only a dozen owners were willing to commit but for us it can not justify the production cost to do a dozen.

So if the 4PL owners, say is 20 times that of the MT4, then mathematically the demand should be the same. A drop down is a preference upgrade not needed by most non racers. The 4PL is currently used by the masses and not hard core racers.

There will, of course, be a surge in sales after the drop down is completed and put on the market. Primarily because racers and bashes will be out using this product and demonstrating the feel and superiority to their friends. Also, there are a lot of people lurking in the shadows waiting to pull the trigger until after the product comes out.

Rest assured that developing this product would be in the best financial interest of Grid-RC.
