hi who has used new chassi with old gears we ran old ones at nats with brace but i would like two know if i can still use old ones /knot having trouble so i will order new version next time if they are better not grumpy or winging just don't like wasting $$$$$

hi i know some of you had mtx4r before mtx5 we have still got two have just changed oil in front diff and it drives like shit i put 30000 in back and 100000 in front i have know idea of what was in it before because it was never changed but i think it was 80000///i tried 50000 in back but that did not feel right have any of you got any ideas on correct oil not in book because it came with one way no front diff at least i am not whinging about our 5//ha

When I ran the x4. I always liked 50k front and 30k rear.

Original fill is 200k front, and 50k rear.

I had some success recently with 30k rear and 100-something-k front, though like many things, won't work for everyone.


Edit: Oops, I though you were talking of the five, stock fill on the 4 acording to the Mugen site docs was 10k, with Fukuda running 30k at some places on his setup sheets, and 50k in the rear with a locked front at our track a long time ago Greg.

I ran 50k front and 20k rear at Nebraska Nationals in 2010, ran well. If you drive it real hard on tight sweeper track and not smooth on the throttle in that area only, it will diff out a little but the car rotates nice everywhere else and does not diff out. I would go a little heavier rear diff oil like lil-bump has. I tried the car last week and pulled it off the shelf since 2010 and the car ran perfect. Selling it today, I will miss this car, great car for its time.

thanks i always ran one way because you need to think about all that finger movement all that braking only slows you down/me/grandson just tells me i am to old but i still like to run car when it is good and it was really fast before we pulled it apart now it has a mind of its own i yous to say if it ant broke than do not mess with it but after 4 years of racing it really needed some work

I was also running the 4R and the best setup for me personally was 80.000 front and 60.000 rear (Xray Oil). The small gears without the O-rings made the diffs really smooth.
Worked well all the year on different tracks. I tried a lot with diff oils, but always got back to 80/60.

does anyone have the part number for the "large plastic screw" which is used in the rear body mount? The large plastic screws support underneath the rear of the body...

For a project I'm working on I'm looking on getting some dimensions of the MTX-5 fueltank.
To determine whether the tank will work or not I will need the following dimensions:


-A Length of the tank within the radiotray
-B Width of the tank within the radiotray
-C Length of the tank part which is on top of the radiotray

So if any of the MTX-5 drivers could measure these dimensions for me I would be very grateful.
