SC10 Thread Part 2

I have two questions that i would really appreciate some inputs on even though I know that they are personal preference...
What brake % is everyone running? and What drag brake % is everyone running?
Also was at the track and talking to a guy how i just switched to the c hubs with strc aluminum u brace. He said that i should not be running the brace like it is a shaved u brace because that is only for buggies... this does not make sense because I have been told by everyone but him and another guy that this is what you are supposed to do. Was running it with just a normal asc. washer.

I too was under the impression that the aluminum u-brace and c-hubs were the way to go. Still using the aluminum brace but not the c-hubs.
I'm interested to hear what some of the more experienced racers have to say about it.

Run 10% drag brake and 50% brake. Just enough brake to slow down but not lock up.

I find the drag brake to be way more sensitive on my sc10 than my b4 or t4. I run on a low to med bite track. I use enough drag to set my truck up for the turn, but no so much that it swaps ends. I might start playing with brake exponentials and brake myself. But my esc has balling breaks. I often run max brake at like 50%, but this hurts my in air correction. So I might just work on radio tuning with expo. So I can use max break and lighten the initial break.

I use the strc aluminum brace with c-hub on my SC10 only. The strc brace stiffens the chassis to get rid of the flex of the longer chassis. The c-hub helps the truck rotate through the corner since I run a numb front end. I don't like it to twitchy but I want to get through the corner. Now the aluminum u-brace is too stiff on my buggy and St.
My truck is setup for an outdoor medium traction track.

Diff was shot and i needed to rebuild it one guy at the track recommended getting the Losi Tungsten Carbide Balls Diff Balls and I have to say the diff feels really smooth he also told me that I will never need to replace these balls. Just thought I would recommend them to others. Running them in the MIP Ball Diff.

Hey all, I'm new to the SC10FT. I got one last week, basically built it on Friday, raced it today and did pretty good, ending up winning out of a field of about 20 at a club race, not too shabby.
I'm running more or less the box setup with the Avid hex conversion, Triad slipper, steering rack and 12mm spring conversion (spring cups and preload collars).
So far I'm really impressed with how great it is to drive, I like it a lot more than my 4wd and basically put it up for sale, lol. Honestly, I just find it more fun to drive.
I do have too much power, but it was all I had motor-wise and really didn't want to buy one, so I'm running an RSPro and a 6.5. I just have it turned way down and honestly it feels fine, it's not difficult to drive or anything.
I need to experiment with weights (need to find some good weights to buy) and drag brake. Who's running an RSPro with drag brake and how much? it would give me a good starting point.
If any of ya'll were on the fence about the Triad slipper, it's fantastic. I love the thing, so easy to drive.

I like 10 to 20% drag break because it's faster than pushing my finger to brake position. I does take a while to get used to it.

Ya, I tend to enjoy my FT sc10 2wd more too. I also have sc10 4x4 and Losi scte. The 4x4's are a blast but I enjoy the finess of 2wd. The irony is the 4x4's are faster but that usually translates to me sneeking by on the inside of turns. People ask me if my trucks a 4wd all the time and I just say nope!

i rememeber reading somewhere that the reason it is common for people to run 10% drag brake now is that it simulates the drag of a brushed motor since brushless motors have very little drag.

It is just a tuning option. And is probably less needed on really high bite surfaces. On low bite, it might be very hard for newer drivers to get the right amount of brake for cornering. On really high bite, you can over brake somewhat and not spin out.

drag brake adds entry steering when used correctly. I use 28-35 on tight tracks and 20-27 on open flowing tracks, but this also will go up or down depending on how much traction is available in the track surface. I keep my brakes high for the end of straights if it's necessary and mid air corrections, and drag brake for everything else.
