When we started the project, the idea was to have the truck as light as possible. We redesigned most of the parts - shocks, steering components, hinge pins, bulkheads etc. The weight was good, but we ended up compromising a bit on some of our other goals: tank-like durability, performance, and cost. So the 16mm bore shocks found their way back in (performance), along with some other parts from the EB48 (hinge pins, bulkheads, diffs, steering assembly - durability, cost, and more shared parts).

After going through all of that we made sure that the truck would be able to run good at any track. That meant we needed a weight range to match. For indoor use, the lighter the better. For outdoor use the truck needs to be heavier or else it will get tossed around. Have you seen some of the lighter trucks run on a rough outdoor track? In any case, the weight is kind of adjustable depending on what you want to run.

My truck currently has a lot of aluminum options, trimmed mudguards and a shorty pack (5.7lb). Out of the box with a normal pack, all of the mudgaurds, etc it's about 6.6lbs. For the record, I got third place in the video losing to a box stock 6.6lb SCT410. So weight matters, but it's not the only thing. The weight distribution, suspension and adjustability are the main attributes that set our truck apart.
Very cool, thanks for the explanation.

I run on a med/small indoor track in the winter and a big 1/8 scale track in the summer.

My local track, Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs MO., had the Jconcepts race this weekend. My bud raced it, he told me that 2 of the fast guys in 4x4 SC, driving Losi's, DNF'ed because of lipo issues

This video doesn't really illustrate how fast you guys are going, because you guys were flying.
I have my EB48 setup using Danny's setup sheet and it drives just like that (It took me a half day to figure out, but I like the style. Plan on tweaking some things though to fit my style a bit more.) I think he had the truck setup that way on purpose. I hope he corrects me if I'm wrong.

Danny, since the first time I watched you run, you're consistency has really gone up. You're going to be beating some of your sponsored drivers more often than they might like if you keep it up

He's been beating up on some of us for years.

One of the better aspects about Tekno RC is that not all of the team consists of top pro level racers. Some of the team are just really dedicated RC enthusiasts that are constantly testing. Its these guys that will put the parts that are being developed through the real test, through constant abuse (more so than a better driver that rarely crashes can) and scrutiny.

This truck the SCT410 is capable of so much. I ran 4x4 SC a lot back when I First converted a Losi Ten T to an SC truck. I ran that for a while, but I never felt I could get it as dialed in as I could get my 1/8th scale electric cars to be. I was expecting to feel the same way this time around when we started testing the 410, but after a few set up days, I was really surprised at what this truck could do. Like the EB48, it REALLY responds to set-up changes. Meaning it can be dialed in to a larger range of track conditions and driving styles. It feels as good as my 1/8th scale does and I can push it just as hard, which is surprising to me because I never felt that way back when I used to run 4x4 SC.

It is built like a tank as well. All the parts wear is super low and we are hard pressed to break this thing at all. There are some new very special parts on this truck that will also be compatible with the EB48. For some of us, these parts will be the hidden gems we've been waiting for.

Running the RX8/4600kv combo geared 15/44. Runs great. Not sure when Tekin is going to release the new motors.

how low can you go pinion-wise with a 540 Pro4 motor on the mount and the 44T spur?

Haven't checked, but it's lower than the buggy since the motors are 4mm less in diameter. Probably 11 or 12.
