I kinda like the idea of the gtb2 because it can also be a backup for my 4x4 with a 550.
Anybody have one?
If I had to switch to any other brand ESC than the Lrp ?

I would go NOVAK ....

I'm not surprised one bit either. Novak is way ahead of the game these days too.

Novak used to be ok. I always thought LRP were smoother though. I never liked the punchy feel. But that was back in the brushed days. I wish LRP was not behind the times. And from what I read, you need the updated esc's with the better BEC. And I dont think there is a way to tell when you buy it. I sold my LRP sphere competition 2007 version a few months ago and now I regret it. It was smooth and worked great, but I wanted boost and sensorless options. But guess what, I dont like the feel of boost and I have no desire for a sensorless motor. So yeah, bad move by me. I have been reading and talking to a few people that run the vipers, they really seem to like them and they appear to have good support.

Also, i would not fault LRP for the BEC issues, it seems like everyone has those issues these day. I think they buy the BEC's from the same place, lol......china

Look in the for sale section for a ORION R10. Super nice and smooth brakes and power.

I was (as usual) being a smart ass WC. Novak is a good decade behind in the game. Tekin,LRP,Orion and Viper are the only speedo's I think should even be considered these days.

Brushless Hobbies. I love mine. Very smooth and good brakes. Can also run a Pro4 without issues

Back to the b4.1. I just picked up a used WC with servo, tires, parts and motor for a smoking deal. Can't wait to run some 2wd buggy again. I think I will just run the v2 shocks for a while. I only get to race about once every 3 months, so I am not sure the big bores are worth it right now for me.

ah ok, I thought they were behind. Figured I was missing something. I looked at them when I returned to racing a few months ago. My first esc when i returned was the MMP because it seemed popular, but I sold it as fast as I could, it was jump imo. it cogged with sensored motors, lol. I then moved over to the HW copies and have had zero issues. But they are a little big for my b4. I am currently thinking about the tekin RS for by b4, but something about the esc is putting me off. If I were to buy an ESC for around $150 for my buggy, I would probably go viper. Really good reviews. the software looks very nice and easy to use. 7 volt bec for those HV servos. Smallish foot print for the b4. The down side is, they are not rated for the 4x4's I dont think. That is why I suggested the others. The HW will do the 4x4 all day long. As will the orions, because they are hobby wings after all.

I run the BH esc's also, but the current line of LT4 seem to be having QC issues. The ones that dont die work well, but I have seen a lot of reports of them just stopping. The only non LT4's are pretty solid and can be bought used for $50ish.

Nope, you missed that one. If it is illegal, so is the 22 & the ts02 +8 & the dex210 +9 (that is forth coming). Mine has the exact same wheel base & overall length as the 22. If I ran inline hubs, then it would be to to long. In addition, if it were illegal then Ty Tessman wouldn't have been allowed to run his at the nationals. I have done my homework (I just need to get around to weighing it one of these days)

However...there is a brand new Novak (pretty small too) that is out now, that is supposed to be up to snuff.

@waflet I found a brand new spare t4 chassis in my RC room, lol. Now I dont have to steal it from my t4 for testing. I need a shortie before i try it again, felt really heavy with a full sized pack.

My buddy Bryan Eady is last years stock national champion...after the mains when his car was in tech, they told him to NEVER show up with a truck chassis in the buggy class again. The chassis was designed for trucks and not buggy racing. He had his rear hubs shaved sooo thin too, so his car would just barely fit in the tech box. So his actual length was ok because of the shaving of the hubs. The Roar officials did tell him that it is not going to be legal any longer, simply because it was designed for trucks not buggies, true story.

so what would make Ty's legal? The fact he hacked it to be narrow? That would make no sense. And with the trend of +xxx chassis. Even if that were true last year, I would bet it is legal now.
