Hum yea that new Novak does have a nice write up. Wonder the price.?
The viper looks good as well and looks like they have a 155.00 model. Better for my price range. I kinda want one now so I can keep racing. Don't want to wait till next month. But it might be worth it.

I would recommend a used rs pro ($175 all day long, less if you hunt) or a new rs ($150), but then again I drank the red coolaid. It has more adjustments, more settings on each adjustment, & more options than anything else out there. It is priced right along with the others. The usb interface is about average price ($30-$35). The only drawback is you HAVE to use a computer to access the detailed programing. You can do most things with the buttons, but not everything, & not fine changes. It is VERY convenient to have reverse on for practice & with just a few clicks you can turn it off for racing w/o having to change anything else or connect it to the computer.

The reventon & the hobbywing are the only other ESC's I would consider in the price range, but I would have to play with them & be very impressed before I dropped the money on something other than a Tekin. I have heard a LOT of good stuff about the brushless hobbies ESC's. If I couldn't afford a Tekin I would probably get one of those.

Maximum buggy length is 475.2mm and a wheelbase of 292. Even without shaving the hubs and having a truck chassis he should have had a wheelbase of about 288mm which is well within the ROAR rules.

Does the tekin RS unbind your receiver from the radio like the RX8 after updating? Some guy at the track was telling me this and I was like wtf.

I have heard that too...but honestly it has never happened to me when doing some Hotwiring.

My understanding is that you only have to rebind (re-calibrate the ESC) when updating the firmware version. You do not have to when changing profile settings (like boost or brake settings). But I think this would be better asked in one of the Tekin threads.

Had the 22 been released at that point? I'm sure that changed a lot of things.

Appearantly they have gotten a lot more liberal since then. There is photographic evidence of Ty running it this year. There were people running 1/8 ebugs cut down to make width for 4wd sc. They decided to allow 4pole 540 & 550 motors (I'm pretty sure that those happened well before last years nats, but it is still new). What are they going to allow next year? 550 4 poles (see the new Tekins)? 4wd fronts on 2wd front? Nuclear power for 1/8 ebug?

yeah, he was updating the firmware. But he had to rebind his receiver and recalibrate the esc.

I always recalibrate the ESC after a firmware update (mash the button, neutral, full throttle, brake), but I don't receall ever having to rebind my receiver to the radio. I was using an Airtronics M11 radio and now an MT-4.

I have 3 RS and a RX8 and have never had that problem. I would say maybe his issue is somewhere else in the system

This was 2011, so it had to be out as Dustin Evans won modified with his 22. Maybe they have re-grouped and changed up the rules a little? I do not know that one at all. The +8 works very well for me though.

good to know. He was running a spekrum, so I dont know if that plays into the equation. But yeah, it made no sense to me. But he is pretty fast and experienced, so I took him at his word.
