No, they fit under the body. The pro is you lose 7.5 ounces of weight. My car is 2 ounces over the minimum legal weight with the shorty packs. I'm using about 350mA/minute. You should be able to run a 10 minute main with a little reserve.

I recall mention of a weight distribution calculator or something like this being mentioned in this thread... I've searched the thread; can't find it. Searched Tekno website; can't find it. Can someone hook me up?

Are you removing weight or just moving it around?

Hi,

I have a question for TeknoRC, about the EB-48 Diffs mounting. They are placed at the opposite of the "classic" way we can see on most 1/8 Offroad.
Then, because of the motor position you chose, can you tell us if you made this because you want the motor and diff to turn like the red narrows ?
Did you ever try, during prototyping, the rotations like the green narrows ?
Can you explain us why many manufacturers had chose this way ?
On my draw, you can see too, the narrows showing the forces involved ( I know it's more complicated ), then can you explain us if this is why you decided to "invert" the diffs ? What's the difference ?

Thanks,
Bye !

I may be wrong as I'm not a physicist and haven't plugged everything into a proper 3d force simulator or anything, but...

As long as forces are counteracted, it should even out in the end. It doesn't really matter much which way the drive shaft turns as long as everything isn't set up to line forces up rather than counteract them, otherwise you end up with torque twist, especially in the air.

As for the motor location/direction, I don't speak for Tekno, but I believe it is for the purpose of making mounting the same no matter if you're using a pinion, long shank pinion, traktion drive, electriclutch, and/or mechanical brakes. This keeps things well balanced and easy to change for track conditions, with the majority of your weight close to the center at all times.

I questioned this as well at one point. In on road racing with stiffer suspension and shorter throw in the shocks, this orientation would normally create torque steer. In the tc3 and 4 this was an issue. On this car, and any 1/8th buggy, it is close to impossible to notice because the suspension absorbs the torque forces of the motor. The placement of the motor on this car seems to be for static balance. I am not speaking for Danny in any way, just stating what I can see,

OK, an interesting story here.
Our last race day, we didn't have enough turnout to race, so I practiced a little with Eby .
It was a little squirrley as usual on our blown out hard packed track, but I was still having fun turning 31s laps. It was really dancing trying to power down the bumpy straight, and really bounded after the right side double do to the deep divots after the landing ramp.

I had initially thought the buggy was over sprung do to the bounding action, but I figured "what the heck", and installed a set of Mugen springs all around. These were significantly harder than stock, and I figured the buggy would be terrible.

Boy was I wrong! The buggy no longer bounced excessively or bounded after the side double. Whaaaat? The buggy was much easier to drive, and now I was turning 29-30s laps!! Or very tough rhythm section was a piece of cake now.
Apparently, the rear of the buggy had been bottoming out in these areas!!??!! I was really liking the stiffer setup, but was lacking low speed traction, as you would expect. Otherwise it was great! Well...everything must come to an end, and my front shock tower and right front arm died after I got the landing very wrong off the giant double .
But wait.. I still had the innermost hole on the tower to use. So I fixed the buggy and mounted the shock tops on the inner hole. Guess what? I got my low-speed traction back!!
Kinda weird huh?

BTW- I just got my Tekno springs. Can't wait to try them out!

What oil and pistons were you running? Sounds like maybe you were undersprung and the shocks could not rebound. Usually if you go to way stiffer springs you have to make a dampening change too, unless your dampening was way off to begin with. Where did you get your pre-mugen spring setup?

Default EB 48 Pinion

I just got one of these a couple days ago. Awesome buggy. my question is what pinion should i be running. I have a Tekin RX8 and T8 1900KV motor. I ran it tonight with the traction drive 15T. It had tons of bottom end but not so much top end. Does anyone know what a good pinion might be to use?

Thanks,

I run the same motor and esc with a 18T pinion. The motor comes off the track at around 150F.
